SOMERS POINT — The sky was bright blue and the wind breezy Sunday as the Easter Bunny greeted little ones for pictures and an egg hunt at the city park overlooking Great Egg Harbor Bay.
Jessica Piombino, a resident of Phoenixville, Pa., who owns a vacation home in Ocean City, brought daughter Carina, 7, to the park for the festivities.
Carina was taking time out to get her face painted by Petersburg resident Ginny Mulford. Also representing Let’s Party Events was Upper Township resident Ava Kuehner, 21, who was painting Pikachu on the cheek of William Herbert, 7, of Egg Harbor Township.
Somers Point residents Sheila Chavez and Anthony Prinzo posed for a photo with children Anthony and Angelina and the Easter Bunny.
Prinzo said his son is involved in local sports programs so they take part in a lot of community events, attending the Easter event every year.
“It’s a time for the whole community to get together and have a good time. The kids love it and always have a good time doing it,” Prinzo said. “This is their favorite park, so we always try to take them here as much as possible.”
Jerel and Ashley Harris with their four boys — twins Mason and Jaxson, Carter and Remy — were enjoying a day outside.
He said it was their first time at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park.
“It’s like a hidden gem,” Ashley Harris said.
Jolene Wong, 8, and sister Amy, 4, of Pleasantville, were all bundled up for the brisk day.
Amelie Connelly, 8, of Mays Landing, must love spring flowers. Judging by her sweatshirt and face paint, purple is her favorite color.
Cole Raring and wife Emma, with baby on board — “due any day now” — brought daughter Addi, 2, to collect some colorful candy-filled eggs.
They said they have been taking part in community activities to get their daughter involved.
“They do a really good job,” Emma Raring said.
City Council President Janice Johnston said the Somers Point Education Recreation filled 5,000 eggs with a prize.
“We had a lot of people come up to us today and say how great it was and it’s nice that we do this,” she said.
“It gets families out and about,” City Councilman Mike Owen added.
