Septuagenarians died of apparent murder-suicide in Wildwood Crest

WILDWOOD CREST — The death of a couple found in their Wildwood Crest home was the result of an apparent murder-suicide, according to authorities.

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Wildwood Crest Police Chief Robert Lloyd reported that borough police officers discovered the bodies Jan. 7 at a home on the 300 block of East Atlanta Avenue

The deceased have been identified as Donald Miller and Marion Miller, both 79.

Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, in conjunction with the Wildwood Crest Police Department, conducted a comprehensive investigation that included witness interviews, forensic analysis and post-mortem examinations conducted by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Based upon the results of the autopsy and the investigation to date, preliminary findings indicate that Marion Miller’s death was the result of a single fatal gunshot wound and Donald Miller’s death was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation is ongoing pending final forensic and medical examiner reports. They said there was no danger to the public.
