Fall Festival
OCEAN CITY – Holy Trinity Episcopal Church invites the public to the Fall Festival 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2998 Bay Ave.
Delight in a lunch break and explore a variety of jewelry, crafts, baked goods and attic treasures. Participate in the basket raffles or quilt drawing. Come for a day of fun, create or buy a scarecrow, paint a pumpkin, or pick up some autumnal flowers.
Blessing of Animals
at Grace Lutheran
SOMERS POINT – There will be a Blessing of the Animals at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at Grace Lutheran Church, 11 E. Dawes Ave., Somers Point.
Pastor Gwendolyn and her dog, Lance, invite the public to bring a furry, feathery or scaly family member (or a photo) along with a lawn chair to the short outdoor worship service.
There will be treats and a commemorative ribbon for the pet. Friends and neighbors, stuffed animals and pets of all kinds are welcome. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” (Psalm 150:6).

Masonic Lodge
spaghetti dinner
OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Masonic Lodge No. 171 is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser with seatings at 5 and 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at the lodge building, 940 Wesley Ave.
Proceeds from the dinner go to the lodge’s Building Restoration Fund. Dinner includes caesar salad, Italian bread, spaghetti, homemade Sunday gravy, homemade meatballs and sweet Italian sausage, assorted desserts, sweet tea, lemonade, coffee and water.

Medicare enrollment topic
at AARP Oct. 18
OCEAN CITY – At 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, Ocean City AARP Chapter 1062 will host a speaker on Medicare open enrollment at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave.
Medicare open enrollment is Oct. 15 through Dec. 7.
The speaker is John Billetdoux, founder of JBA Insurance Brokers of Marlton. He will speak to the various plans, the differences between Medicare supplements and Medicare Advantage, what it takes to change a plan, as well as explain the donut hole, and the Annual Notice of Change (ANOC).
The meeting will be helpful to those presently on Medicare, or about to turn that age when eligible, or if caring for a parent or relative who is on Medicare.
At this meeting, OCNJ AARP volunteers will be collecting the annual $5 dues. If not presently a member, see one of the volunteers to join.
Christmas Parade

SOMERS POINT – The Somers Point Historical Society will be Hosting the annual Christmas & Holiday Parade at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. This is the first time it’s being held on a Saturday.
The parade will begin at Dawes Avenue School and follow Shore Road to City Hall. They are currently seeking parade participants – marching groups, float entries, decorated trucks, flatbeds, Landscape trailers, boats or any other vehicle. From elaborate to simple, think Christmas lights, trees, blow-ups or any type of holiday decoration. Prizes will be awarded.

SOMERS POINT – The Somers Point Unique Experiences Club will host the second Opera Dinner at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at Gregory’s Restaurant, 900 Shore Road, Somers Point.
This event will feature three professional opera singers accompanied by a award winning keyboardist performing some of opera most famous arias. The evening will also feature a four-course Italian dinner. Cost is $50 per person. Seating is limited.

Chorale ‘Night
On Broadway’
SOMERS POINT – Cape Shore Chorale presents “A Night on Broadway” 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Grace Lutheran Church, 11 East Dawes Ave., Somers Point.
The event features music and gastronomical tastings to support the Cape Shore Chorale in providing free concerts twice yearly.
A $50 donation per person includes hors d’oeuvres, desserts, all beverages, and an evening filled with musical entertainment. The event is open to all who would like to support this community choir. Reservations are required.

LINWOOD — The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) has scheduled its annual Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at Linwood Country Club.
Event organizers aim to raise more than $375,000 statewide to support CFBNJ’s work providing healthy food for residents.
It will include a program, lunch, volunteer hour and networking.
New York Times food writer Melissa Clark will be the event’s featured speaker, simulcast to Linwood from the event in Florham Park. She has written more than 40 cookbooks, including “Dinner in One: Exceptional & Easy One-Pan Meals and Dinner: Changing the Game.” Robin Stoloff will be the program moderator.

Walking Club
OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Walking Club, formed last summer, invites everybody to join weekly walks on the Ocean City Boardwalk on Friday mornings.
People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to meet outside the Ocean City Music Pier at 8 a.m. each Friday to walk the length of the Boardwalk. The Ocean City Healthy Living Advisory Council created the group as a way for people to get healthy and meet new friends.
The Boardwalk is 2.45 miles long, and round trip is (4.9 miles). Walks may take about 90 minutes, but participants are welcome to stop at any point along the route. The HLAC asks everybody to grab a coffee or water and “don’t forget to bring your smile.”

Crisis Intervention
Families who are experiencing serious difficulties in managing the behavior of children 10 to 17 years old for whom they are responsible can seek assistance through the Atlantic County Juvenile/Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU).
FCIU is a legally mandated program that is available 24 hours a day to intercede in family conflicts and help strengthen the family unit. Its services include short-term crisis stabilization, family assessment, case management, treatment planning and referrals to appropriate community-based services.
FCIU is available to meet in-person by appointment with youth and their families from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 101 Shore Road in Northfield. Appointments can also be conducted by phone or as a virtual meeting to help de-escalate and resolve family conflicts.

Free screening
for depression
Online screening for depression and postpartum depression is available at mhaac.info/screening.
The confidential screening involves 10 questions related to topics such as sleep habits, appetite, concentration and level of energy. Resources and recommendations are offered at the end of the survey.
Anyone who wants to take the screening but needs assistance can call The Mental Health Association in Atlantic County at (609) 652-3800. Staff are available throughout the year by phone or by appointment. No cost, no insurance needed.
