OCEAN CITY – Dr. Christian Angelillo, the new superintendent of schools for the Ocean City School District, will be the speaker at 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Rotary Club of Ocean City – Upper Township at Uncle Bill’s Pancake House, 21st Street and Asbury Avenue.
This is a breakfast menu meeting to walk-ins are welcome. Rotarians and other attendees are encouraged to attend.
Angelillo became superintendent Aug. 1. He has 29 years of experience in education as a teacher, coach and administrator.

Contributions also support innovative initiatives such as memory care, special care kits for hospice and palliative patients, and recognition programs for veterans. Community and professional education programs are also supported by charitable gifts.

The sale will feature crafts made by local artisans and will include a bake sale with homemade baked goods made by church members. A book sale table will also be provided by the church with popular titles sold for reasonable prices.

OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Pops is presenting The Strictly 60s Band at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Ocean City Music Pier. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Ocean City Pops.

The concert features the best songs and sounds of the 1960s with a playlist that includes the British Invasion, Motown, rock ’n’ roll and Doo Wop.

ATLANTIC CITY — A new fundraiser featuring a drag show and gourmet buffet will benefit Cancer Support Community New Jersey (CSCNJ).
Queen Cabaret is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19 at Nola’s inside Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. The cost is $75 for general admission and $100 for VIP seating. The cost includes a gourmet buffet and open bar. There also will be a raffle and 50/50 drawing.
The drag show will be performed by Brittany Lynn and the Philly Drag Mafia.

It is time to register for NAMI Family to Family eight-week educational program for family, friends, and significant others of adults with mental health conditions.
NAMI Family to Family provides information about anxiety, depressive disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other mental health conditions. Topics covered include communication, problem solving, treatment, resources and recovery. The course is designed to increase the understanding and advocacy skills while helping participants maintain their own well-being. CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) Program will hold the virtual Lunch & Learn Program: The 8 Dimensions of Wellness-Social Wellness from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
“There are 8 Dimensions of Wellness defined by SAMSHA and this program will focus on the importance of social wellness for better life-balance and stress reduction,” said Chris Zellers, CHS educator/assistant professor. This webinar is part of the Lunch & Learn 10-part series on the 8 Dimensions of Wellness that runs through October. It includes one-hour lessons on physical, environmental, financial, occupational, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social wellness.

Walking Club
OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Walking Club, formed last summer, invites everybody to join weekly walks on the Ocean City Boardwalk on Friday mornings.
People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to meet outside the Ocean City Music Pier at 8 a.m. each Friday to walk the length of the Boardwalk. The Ocean City Healthy Living Advisory Council created the group as a way for people to get healthy and meet new friends.
The Boardwalk is 2.45 miles long, and round trip is (4.9 miles). Walks may take about 90 minutes, but participants are welcome to stop at any point along the route. The HLAC asks everybody to grab a coffee or water and “don’t forget to bring your smile.”

Crisis Intervention
Families who are experiencing serious difficulties in managing the behavior of children 10 to 17 years old for whom they are responsible can seek assistance through the Atlantic County Juvenile/Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU).
FCIU is a legally mandated program that is available 24 hours a day to intercede in family conflicts and help strengthen the family unit. Its services include short-term crisis stabilization, family assessment, case management, treatment planning and referrals to appropriate community-based services.
FCIU is available to meet in-person by appointment with youth and their families from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 101 Shore Road in Northfield. Appointments can also be conducted by phone or as a virtual meeting to help de-escalate and resolve family conflicts.

for depression
Online screening for depression and postpartum depression is available at mhaac.info/screening.
The confidential screening involves 10 questions related to topics such as sleep habits, appetite, concentration and level of energy. Resources and recommendations are offered at the end of the survey.
Anyone who wants to take the screening but needs assistance can call The Mental Health Association in Atlantic County at (609) 652-3800. Staff are available throughout the year by phone or by appointment. No cost, no insurance needed.
