Robert “Bob” David Carlson, age 88 years, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 26, 2024.
He was born on March 2, 1936 in Atlantic City Hospital, and lived in Linwood and Margate, NJ. During adulthood he lived in New Haven, CT; Philadelphia, Plymouth Meeting, and Lafayette, PA; Indianapolis, IN; Belcourt, ND; Red Lake, MN, and Marshfield, WI as he pursued his education and career. After graduating from Lawrenceville preparatory school, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Yale University in 1958 and went on to complete his medical doctorate from Temple University in 1961. After finishing his residency and serving in the Public Health Service, he settled into a 35-year career at the Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin as a radiologist. Bob would then move back to the East Coast to enjoy his retirement.
Bob enjoyed doing many different things. He was an avid reader but also enjoyed his time outdoors, whether it was golfing or hunting, or he was out on a boat fishing. He loved woodworking and traveling but most of all loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Ingeborg M. Carlson and her children: Eric Carlson, Inger and Mike Reynolds as well as his children: Janet Carlson, Karen and Rick Wind, Kenneth and Daedre Carlson, Paul and Donna Carlson. In addition, he enjoyed additional generations of family members to include his 13 grandchildren (Andrew, Matthew, Katie, Erika, Hannah, Samantha, Emme, Owen, Elsa, Evan, Julia, Eliot, Anna) and 4 great grandchildren (Emmett, Fiona, Enid, Arlo). Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane M. [Robinson] Carlson and his brother, C. Richard Carlson, and his parents, Carl and Helen [Much] Carlson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Grace Lutheran Church in Somers Point, NJ or Ducks Unlimited (donate.ducks.org). A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18th, starting at 10 A.M., followed by a service at 11 A.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, 11 E. Dawes Avenue in Somers Point, NJ. Interment will be private.
