Red Raiders in the state finals

Tom Finnegan earns the win on the mound

OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Red Raider baseball team (19-7) defeated Colts Neck (22-7), 4-2, Monday afternoon in the state Group III semifinals.

That puts Ocean City in the state finals Saturday at Bob DeMeo Memorial Field at Veterans Park in Hamilton.

They will face Pascack Valley (24-5), who beat Milburn 5-3 on Monday afternoon.

In the Red Raiders’ game  at Colts Neck, Tommy Finnegan pitched the full game and earned the win for the Red Raiders. He allowed seven hits but only two runs from Colts Neck, while the Red Raiders were able to connect for four runs on three hits.

Catcher Joe Repetti had a single and racked up 2 RBI in the game and Finnegan also used his bat to bring in a third run.

Gannon Brady, who earned the win on the mound against Mainland Regional in the South Jersey Group III sectional final Saturday, added a double to the cause and fellow senior Ben Hoag had two singles.

Game time on Saturday is listed at 7 p.m.

The Red Raiders will be seeking their first state title in program history. Ocean City lost in the Group III state finals in 2016 and in 2010.
