Raider and Mustang track have S.J. champions

Maeve Smith double winner; Josiah Williams gets title; lots of medals, top 10 for both teams

FRANKLINVILLE – Ocean City and Mainland Regional high schools have South Jersey track and field champions, medalists and top-10 finishers.

The South Jersey Group III sectional meet was last weekend at Delsea Regional High School.

Ocean City senior Maeve Smith won the 3200 meters with freshman teammate Riley Tolson second. Smith’s winning time was 11:05.30. Tolson finished in 11:26.43.

Smith and sophomore teammate Carly Godfrey went 1-2  in the 1600 meters. Smith won with a time of 4:58.68 and Godfrey finished in 5:04.33. Mustang junior Emma Preissman was fourth in 5:07.75, Raider senior Chloe Care was fifth in 5:11.43 and Mainland junior Madison Taylor sixth in 5:13.66.

Godfrey also finished second in the 800 meters, 4/100ths of a second behind the winner, Moorestown freshman Hope Edwards, who won in 2:14.39. Mainland’s Taylor was sixth in 2:17.44.

Ocean City’s Lily Tedesco, Ella Miller, Alana Clevenger and Julianne Goodman set a school record in the 4×100 when they finished second at the meet with a time of 49.68 seconds. Winslow’s relay team won in 48.06 seconds. Mustangs Julia Guido, Oriellah Caplan, Gianna Shea and Isabella Moscoloa were 10th in the 4×100 relay, finishing in 53.16 seconds.

Raiders Smith, Care, Godfrey and Tolson were second in the 4×800 with their time of 9:19.84. Winslow’s relay won in 9:17.50 and Mustangs Cecilia Foreman, Lacey Wagner, Shayne Connolly and Natalie Higbee were sixth in 10:08.66

Mainland senior Josiah Williams won the triple jump at 46’5 and came in third in the long jump at 21’5.5”. Mustang teammate Dallas Rowell, a sophomore, was second in the long jump at 21’10.5”. Rowell was 10th in the triple jump 41’10.5”

Winslow junior Zaire Rothmiller-McIntosh won the long jump at 22’0.5” and Mainland sophomore Zaki Marcus was seventh at 20’7.5”

Williams also placed fourth in the 110 hurdles in 14.94 seconds. Deptford senior Ryan Sanchez won in 14.31 seconds.

Mainland sophomore Gianna Shea was second in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 10’ and teammate Heather Millstead, a sophomore, was fourth at 9’. Moorestown senior Hannah Byrd-Leitner won at 12’.

Mainland junior Matt Muitts was third in the javelin at 162’7”. Ocean City junior Gavin Taylor was fifth at 160’8”. Winslow’s Kristopher Jackson won at 168’8”.

Mainland senior Colin Kummings tied for third in the high jump, clearing the bar at 6’. Highland senior Jayden DeLeon won by clearing 6’6”.

Ocean City junior Callie Duff was third in the high jump, clearing 5’2”. Mainland’s Aryanna Perez was sixth, Ocean City junior Jaida Dooley was seventh and Mainland sophomore Allie Thomas ninth, all at 5’.

Perez was ninth in the triple jump at 33’4” and Duff 10th at 32’9”.

Raider senior Ethan Buck was third in the 3200 meters in 9:48.90 and junior teammate Erik Preisner was fifth in 9:54.34. Delsea junior Matthew Littlehales won in 9:45.25.

Buck finished fourth in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:29.96 and Preisner was ninth in 4:34.51. Littlehales won in 4:26.67.

The Mainland boys 4×100 team finished fourth in 43.01 seconds and Ocean City’s 4×100 relay featuring Connor Berich, JP Forster, Dale Curtis and Jude Govern was fifth in 43.28 seconds – a new school record.

The Raider boys 4×800 team of Preisner, Buck, Nevin Millstein and Michael Romano was fourth in 8:18.23. Delsea won in 8:08.

Mainland junior Camryn DeMorat was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 14.96 seconds with teammate Aryanna Perez, a senior, sixth in 15.58 seconds and Ocean City senior AnnaMaria Marczyk eighth in 16.26 seconds. Winslow freshman Jasmine Jackson won the race in 13.76 seconds.

Mustang Ava McDole, a senior, was sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:07.95. Perez was ninth in 1:09.59. Jackson won in 1:02.46.

The Raider girls 4×400 team was fourth in 4:05.08 with Goodman, Kai Linthicum, Ava DeMelia and Clevenger. Winslow Township won in 3:53.56.

Goodman, a freshman, was fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.1 seconds. Winslow sophomore Cinniya Robinson won in 56.24 seconds.

Ocean City’s Miller was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 25.20 seconds. Timber Creek senior Ryan Jennings won in 23.81 seconds.

DeMorat was ninth at 25.83 seconds. Miller also was sixth in the 100 meters in 12.31 seconds. Jennings won that race in 11.32 seconds.

Gianna Endicott, an Ocean City junior, was seventh in the discus at 111’3”. Delsea junior Hanna Nuhfer won at 157’6”.

Mustang junior Anayah Usher was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 33’9”. Nuhfer won at 47’9’.

Mainland sophomore Teagan O’Brien was eighth in the javelin at 91’6”. Absegami sophomore Josephine Buxton won with a throw of 130’8”.

DeMorat was ninth in the long jump 16’2.75”. Absegami senior Jaida Garrett won at 19’3.5”. Teammate Perez was ninth in the triple jump at 33’4”. Winslow’s Ma’Syiah Brawner won at 39’10”.

Mainland junior Chris Keena was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 10.97 seconds. Winslow’s Nyqir Helton won in 10.68 seconds. 

Raider senior Grady Hanson was seventh in the shot put with a throw of 48’3.5”. Delsea Regional senior Jonathan Harris won with throw of 58’11.75”. Raider senior Clifford Dirkes was eighth in the discus with a throw of 143’11”. Hammonton senior Anthony Liakhnovich won at 183’2”.
