BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP – Red Raider sophomore Ella Miller was second in the 100-meter dash at the Cape-Atlantic League Track and Field Championships Saturday, May 10, at Buena Regional High School. She finished 2/100ths of a second behind first-place’s Daizhae Brown, who won in 12.32 seconds.
Not content with her 12.32-second 100 meters, Miller came back in the 200 meters and won it in 25.33 seconds, ahead of Vineland’s Beatrice Sotomayer (25.71). Mainland’s Camryn DeMorat was third in 25.73 seconds.
Miller joined teammate Callie Duff in the high jump, the Red Raider 4×800 team that repeated, and Mainland sophomore Gianna Shea in the pole vault as winners at the CAL meet.

Duff, a junior, won the high jump by clearing 5’2 after tying with second-place’s Aryanna Perez, a Mainland senior, at 5’. Raider junior Jaida Dooley was sixth at 4’10”.
Shea cleared 9’6” to win the pole vault. Her teammate, fellow sophomore Heather Milstead, was fourth at 9’.
Ocean City’s 4×800 team of Chloe Care, Maeve Smith, Riley Tolson and Carly Godfrey won with their time of 9:31.82, nearly 40 seconds ahead of second-place Vineland (10:10.84). Mustangs Cecilia Foreman, Lacey Wagner, Shayne Connolly and Natalie Higbee were third in 10:37.38.
Care built a lead in the first leg then Smith, Tolson and Godfrey kept expanding it to win going away.
Mustang junior Emma Preissman was second in the 1600 meters with her time of 5:22.17. Vineland’s Georgina Chalow won in 5:08.57. Ocean City sophomore Peighton Clemens (5:37.50) and freshman Julianna Rearick (5:47.23) were sixth and ninth and Mainland freshman Ella Monkienko was 12th in 5:49.31.
Mustang senior Ava McDole finished second in the 400 hurdles in 1:07.77 with teammate Perez fifth in 1:08.96. Ocean City senior Ginger Mumman was 12th in 1:14.63. Buena Regional’s Emily Madden won in 1:07.40.
Mustang junior Madison Taylor (2:21.95) and sophomore Addison Pepper (2:27.66) were third and fourth in the 800 meters. Vineland’s Ashlynn Newton won in 2:17.63.

DeMorat was third in 100-meter hurdles in 14.49 seconds and Ocean City’s AnnaMaria Marczyk, a senior, was sixth in 16.16 seconds. Atlantic Tech’s Brianna Growalt won in 14.55 seconds. Raider Emily Swan, a senior, was 13th in 17.79 seconds.
Mainland’s 4×400 relay was third in 4:11.77. The Mustang runners were Pepper, McDole, Sofia Day and Taylor. Vineland won in 4:04.79.
Mainland senior Day was fifth in the 400 meters in 1:02.10, followed by two Raiders, freshman Julianne Goodman (1:02.34) and sophomore Kai Linthicum (1:02.38), who were sixth and seventh. Atlantic City’s Taison Parker won in 1:00.52.
Ocean City junior Gabrielle Henry (12:50.41) was sixth in the 3200 meters with teammates Sadie Heyman, a junior, eighth in 13:23.64 and freshman Lily Cozamanis ninth in 13:35.52.
Mainland’s 4×100 relay team of Julia Guido, Oriellah Caplan, Gianna Shea and Isabella Moscoloa was seventh in 52.75 seconds. Atlantic Tech won in 50.88 seconds.
Dooley was fourth in the long jump with her leap of 17’2.5”. Teammate Marczyk was seventh at 16’4.25” and Duff was eighth at 15’8.75”. Mustang Shea was 11th at 15’4.75”.
Ocean City senior Madyn Rihl was fourth in the triple jump at 32’2”. Teammate Emily Swan, a senior, was eighth at 31’ and Mustang freshman Adrianna Mesic was 10th at 30’5.75”.
Ocean City junior Gianna Endicott was third in the discus with her throw of 108’2” and teammate Sophia Smith, a junior, was sixth at 87’4”. Mainland sophomore Teagan O’Brien was 13th at 80’10”.
Raider junior Riley Grawl was sixth in the javelin with her distance of 82’11” and O’Brien was seventh at 82’4”. Absegami senior Josephine Buxton won at 135’5”.
Mainland junior Anayah Usher was fifth in the shot put with her throw of 32’7”.
The South Jersey Group III meet is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at Delsea Regional High School.
