Public input sought on Somers Point Master Plan Re-examination

Meeting Thursday, Aug. 22, at Somers Point City Hall

SOMERS POINT – The Somers Point Planning Board is beginning a comprehensive Master Plan Reexamination process. This initiative aims to gather extensive community feedback on potential revisions to the city’s Master Plan, which serves as the foundational guide for the city’s zoning and land use policies.

The public meeting will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Somers Point City Hall, 1 W. New Jersey Ave.

“This is a unique opportunity for the community to help shape the future of Somers Point,” Mayor Dennis Tapp said. “We look forward to hearing from our residents and working together to create a vibrant and sustainable city. The input we receive during this engagement process will be invaluable in addressing the challenges and opportunities ahead. Our goal is to foster a sense of ownership and pride in our collective efforts to enhance the quality of life for everyone in Somers Point.”

Public participation is encouraged as the Planning Board invites all community members to take part in this ongoing dialogue. The engagement process includes public meetings and workshops. Members of the Somers Point Zoning Board and City Council are expected to be in attendance, highlighting the importance of this collaborative effort.

The Master Plan provides critical guidance on the location, type, and scale of development within the city. A key component of this reexamination is to engage with the public to ensure that the plan reflects a diverse range of perspectives and ideas, shaping the city’s vision for the next decade and beyond.

“We are committed to creating a Master Plan that truly represents the needs and aspirations of our community,” City Administrator Jason Frost said. “This process is an opportunity for all residents to have a voice in the future development of Somers Point. We believe that a collaborative approach will ensure that our plans are comprehensive and reflect the diverse perspectives of our residents.”

Questions, comments, and new ideas are highly encouraged. The Planning Board seeks to capture as much input as possible to guide the City’s development in a manner that benefits all residents.
