CAMDEN, Maine – Peggy Ann (Westcott) Loper, age 80, passed away peacefully in the hands of her husband, Dick Loper, in Pen Bay Hospital after a long struggle with COPD and pneumonia. All those wonderful medical pros were so kind and attentive seeing to the comforts of us both.
Peggy was the daughter of May Campbell and Edward Westcott, born February 27, 1940. She and her husband shared 64 years, the last 40 years in Maine after New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She is survived by her sister Emily; her son Glenn and his wife Denise; two grandchildren, Kimberly and Kristopher; five great-grandchildren. She and Dick lost an older son, James Kirk Loper several years ago.
Peggy had an eventful life – from the stage on Steel Pier in Atlantic City, New Jersey as a child through eventful travel in Europe, South America and all 50 states in the USA, then settling in Maine in 1980 to run one of the most interesting antique shops on the Maine coast.
Peggy and Dick were blessed with her love of cats and dogs, a horse named Melinda and the joy she took from these relationships. She inspired us all and will be missed deeply. Memories and condolences may be shared at ripostafh.com.
