Palatial estate in Upper offers luxury, high-end amenities near beaches

UPPER TOWNSHIP — I have toured multimillion-dollar homes on the area’s beaches and bays offering spectacular views and high-end amenities, but the home at 2 Wyndom Way is the first that can truly be called a mansion.

The palatial estate includes more than 1 acre of land with open grassy areas, multiple trees and lush landscaping. A trampoline and playground sit atop a mulched area easier on little knees and elbows than gravel or dirt.

“Situated on an oversized, elevated lot with manicured landscaping, a large circular driveway, two-plus-car garage and sprawling backyard with playground, the home is just 10 minutes to the beach and in one of the top school districts in New Jersey,” real estate agent Burt Wilkins III said.

The 8,027-square-foot home was built on the cul de sac in 2009 with an insulated-block system featuring poured concrete and metal framing from the basement to the attic, which makes it extremely energy efficient as well as hurricane-proof. And it’s just 10 minutes from the beaches of Ocean City and Sea Isle City.

The home has four spacious bedrooms, four bathrooms and a powder room, as well as multiple sitting areas, a gourmet eat-in kitchen, stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops and a wet bar with wine refrigerator. The first floor features a grand foyer, stunning dining room, beautiful and bright formal living room with a 20-foot ceiling, office, family room and master suite.

“Tailored to the finest tastes, high-end finishes include elegant accent stone, textured walls, incredible trim and crown moldings, custom lighting and soaring ceilings throughout,” Wilkins said. “An expansive second-floor bonus living and gaming area can easily be converted into an additional master or in-laws suite.”

From the street, the home has curb-appeal aplenty with four peaked roofs and several dormers, as well as stone facia and cedar-impression siding. There is a two-car attached garage with separate doors on the side and around back, stacked-stone columns flank six arches on the ground floor beneath the 900-square-foot heated blue stone patio with glass railings that’s perfect for entertaining.

The 2,726-square-foot walkout basement has a bunker area and 10-foot ceilings with plenty of room to customize and create a wine cellar, gym or home theater.

Back our front, a blue stone walkway leads up to the covered front porch, where a solid-wood front door with a leaded-glass insert and side panels opens onto the foyer with narrow-plank hardwood flooring.

A grand staircase with a wood railing and wrought-iron spindles curves up to the second floor, while the office is to the left. Straight ahead through a privacy door is the master suite, while the dining room, living room, kitchen and family room are to the right.

The office has a 14-foot vaulted ceiling and gas fireplace. A triple window with a transom provides natural light, while the snowball chandelier does the job at night.

The dining room is just to the right of the door and features a tray ceiling and chandelier above a round table with a built-in lazy Susan and eight cushioned chairs.

The master suite is back to the left behind French-style doors. It’s incredibly large with narrow-plank hardwood, a king-size bed and a tray ceiling with crown molding and exceptional millwork. Double swinging doors open onto the back patio. A huge L-shaped walk-in closet is next to the bathroom, which has a 20-foot ceiling, Maax tub with jets and a view of the backyard, as well as a corner tiled shower. There are custom granite-topped his and hers vanities.

A stone-faced wood-burning fireplace that stretches high to the 20-foot ceiling with a stacked-stone hearth is the centerpiece of the living room. Built-in shelving flanks the chimney. Facing the back patio, 10 tall windows in a curved bay provide abundant natural light.

A second staircase separates the living room from the kitchen, which also can accessed via a hallway with a wet bar.

A separate hall leads back to a half-bath and the laundry, which has a Maytag Maxima series washer and dryer, cabinets and wood countertops, as well as a door to the garage.

The kitchen is both beautiful and functional. It features wood KraftMaid cabinets with a rope inlay and granite countertops with a tile backsplash. GE Monogram appliances include a refrigerator, 48-inch four-burner gas range with two griddles and a hood, built-in double ovens and a countertop microwave. It also has a pot-filler faucet and undercounter .

The large center island has two levels and five to six stools, as well as a dishwasher, sink and icemaker. Five pendant lights are overhead.

A family room/sun room off the kitchen has a 14-foot vaulted ceiling and a sliding glass door opening onto the back patio. The gas fireplace has a Rainforest Green marble tile surround.

Atop the stairs, a hallway with hardwood flooring and a wrought iron railing overlooks the living room below.

Two bedrooms to the left share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom featuring a porcelain tub with glass-tile walls and a curtain and a granite-topped vanity.

The game room is above the garage and has a multi-angled ceiling and a couple of closets, so could be used as almost anything.

A junior master suite is at the other end of the house. It was wall-to-wall carpeting, a tray ceiling above a king-size bed and three windows overlooking the backyard. The bathroom has a porcelain tub with jets, a granite-topped vanity, tile on the floor and halfway up the walls and a tiled shower with a swinging glass door.

The home also has solar panels, a central vacuum system, 1,500 square feet of attic space, hydronic in-floor heating system, four-zone air-conditioning, three fireplaces and a smart home system to control sound, lighting, HVAC and security.

It is listed for $1.895 million with Goldcoast Sotheby’s International Realty. Call (609) 464-2571, (609) 513-2029 or (609) 513-2500 for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
