OCHS girls 2nd eight medals at Stotesbury Cup Regatta

The Ocean City High School crew team’s girls second eight medaled at the prestigious Stotesbury Cup Regatta that featured 919 boats and more than 5,000 athletes Friday and Saturday on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The second eight, featuring (from coxswain to bow), Ava Ruh, Reese Hemberger, Callie Bellwoar, Reese Powell, Marissa Trostle, Addison Guest, Romi Yakita, Ava Ryan and Aubrey Schlembach, finished third, just missing a silver medal by 0.8 seconds to Bethesda Chevy Chase in a time of 5:14, according to coach Colin Stewart. In addition, the Raider girls varsity eight placed ninth in the time trial, earning a spot in the semifinal, where they were edged out of third place by Jackson and Reed of Washington, D.C., by 0.3 seconds. Both boats will be competing this weekend at the Scholastic National Championship at the Cooper River.
