Ocean City to host Easter events, including boardwalk egg hunt

OCEAN CITY – Last March and April, Easter events in the resort were squashed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which eventually stopped almost all of Ocean City’s popular events through the end of the year.

The Great Egg Hunt is back, but with a twist to make sure the participants are safe.

The hunt used to be on the beach featuring thousands of eggs and hundreds of children scrambling around with their parents to collect them. This year, there will be a new type of hunt on Good Friday weekend and Easter week that will be in full compliance with current public health guidelines that require masks and social distancing.

As in previous years, there will be hunts on two consecutive Saturdays, March 27 and April 3.

From 1 to 4 p.m. both days – or until supplies last – the hunt moves to the boardwalk, where participating merchants will invite children up to age 7 to visit stores with their families to collect eggs filled with treats and surprises. Flyers will direct families to participating stores.

Ocean City Councilman Jody Levchuk, a boardwalk businessman, said the event will be so much fun for children and their families the city may run the Easter egg hunt this way in the future.
