New, modern-style home centrally located for easy access to all island offers

OCEAN CITY — The new, modern home at 2732 West Ave. in America’s Greatest Family Resort is the perfect place for a family to set up headquarters for exploring the island and everything it has to offer.

On the Goldcoast, stretching from 18th to 29th streets, the home is centrally located between the Northend starting at North Street and the Southend ending at 59th Street. That means everything in Ocean City is just a short walk or bike ride away.

Movie star and princess of Monaco Grace Kelly spent summers in the family’s Goldcoast home. It was built in 1929 on the corner of Wesley Avenue and 26th Street.

The new home is just more than three blocks from the island’s miles of pristine white beaches in one direction and a long block away from the Stainton Wildlife Refuge and the Haven Avenue bike path in the other.

It also is close to the back door to the island, the 34th Street bridge through Upper Township, just off the Garden State Parkway. That means there is no schlepping through downtown for those eager to get to their shore escape.

The duplex is crisp and white with black windows, doors and other accents, matching the newest trend in shore home aesthetics. There’s a small, grassy yard and mulched flowerbeds out front, while a concrete walkway on the right leads back to the parking pads off the alley with access to the one-car attached garage.

The first-floor unit features a wide set of composite steps ascending to the covered front porch.

Atop the stairs, double sets of windows flank a central tall, black door. There is room for rockers or a swing and a table and chairs beneath the wood-plank ceiling.

Inside, the great room encompasses the entire lower level, featuring sought-after amenities such as 42-inch board-and-batten wainscoting, wide-plank engineered wood flooring, stone countertops, and a tile backsplash.

The home was unfurnished during a recent tour, but the chandelier hanging from 9 feet above to the left signaled where family would gather around the table for a delicious evening meal after spending all day on the beach or boards.

Just steps away, the kitchen features a large center island with more seating. The timeless motif continues here, with white Forevermark cabinets and black hardware. Stainless-steel Whirlpool appliances include a five-burner range/oven with a microwave above, a dishwasher to the left of the sink and a two-door refrigerator/freezer.

The sitting area is on the right side of the space. The entire north wall is covered in horizontal planks, outlining the gas fireplace and providing a flat surface for a large-screen television.

A door off the sitting area opens onto wood stairs descending to a small rear foyer where there is a closet and door to the garage.

Up three steps, a long hall leads to three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The hall bathroom is to the left just atop the stairs, making it convenient for those in the great room as well as the bedrooms. It has a stone-topped 21st Century vanity and porcelain tub with tiled walls and a curtain.

The laundry closet is just across the hall, next to the first bedroom. Like most of the house, it has wood flooring and solid-core interiors doors with tall headers.

In the back right, the second bedrooms is much the same but has the benefit of access to the back deck via a sliding glass door.

On the left, the primary bedrooms has a larger closet with double swinging doors and access to the shared deck but also a private bath with a tile floor, dual-sink vanity and full tiled shower with a swinging glass door.

The garage, which has finished walls and a concrete floor, has a door opening to the side yard where there is an enclosed shower cabana to rinse off after a day at the beach.

Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring a 2.5-mile-long oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches. There also is an award-winning downtown business district centered on Asbury Avenue and a watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue.

The home is in a largely residential section of the island but is close to popular mom-and-pop eatery Kessel’s Korner at 28th Street and Asbury Avenue, as well as the local favorite the Discovery Seashell Museum.

The property is listed for $1,099,000 with Dean Chorin of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 602-0313 or email dean.chorin@foxroach.com for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
