Mustang girls lax tops Millville 15-8

LINWOOD – The Mainland girls lacrosse team beat visiting Millvile 15-8 Thursday afternoon.

Casey Murray led the Mustangs with 4 goals and one assist. Teammates Julianna Medina, Charlotte Walcoff and Samantha Rothman had 3 goals each and Eve Blanco and Bella Tenaglia added a goal apiece in the victory. Walcoff added 2 assists and Blanco, Murray and Medina had 1 assist each. The Mustang jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the first half and outscored the Thunderbolts 7-5 in the second for the team’s first victory of the season. The Mainland girls opened the season with a narrow, 13-12 loss to Middle Township. Murray scored 4 goals and had 2 assists in that game and Walcoff had 3 goals and 3 assists. Rothman added 2 goals.
