OCEAN CITY — The next owner of the first-floor condominium at 1504 Central Ave. in America’s Greatest Family Resort need bring only a toothbrush and bathing suit when moving into the turnkey home in the center of the city.
Located just two blocks off the beach and boardwalk, the home offers three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an upscale modern kitchen and wide-open great room with a sitting area and dining space.
Everything is included from the flatware to the hardware, pictures to pitchers and dishes to dust pans — just roll up, drop the bags and head straight to the beach.
The duplex has a concrete walkway leading to composite steps up to the cozy covered front porch, where there is room for relaxing and dining al fresco. Mulched beds with mature shrubs flank the stairs, while a concrete path leads along the north side past the second-floor entrance to the rear.
Back out front, tile flooring keeps the porch fresh and clean, and also holds up well to the harsh seashore weather.
A deep-brown wood door with a leaded glass window opens into the great room, where the Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring sets the tone for the high-end amenities such as the handsome baseboard and crown molding.
The functional living room is to the right, where a sofa and love seat are arranged around a wall-mounted television. Natural light flows through the triple window in the front and one on the north side.
On the left, a long wood table that seats at least eight awaits diners just inside another triple window and beneath the fantastic coffered ceiling. Two more windows on the south side bathe the area in light. Shadow box wainscoting adds another element of style to this space.
Heat and ambiance flow from three sides of the electric fireplace, which partially separates the sitting and dining areas.
Just beyond the dining room is the kitchen, sporting tile flooring, abundant natural wood Armstrong cabinets with soft-close, self-close door and drawers, and granite countertops. Stainless-steel GE Profile appliances include a dishwasher to the left of the stainless-steel sink, a five-burner range/oven with a microwave above and a two-door refrigerator with freezer drawer. They share space with a stacked washer and dryer.
There also is door to the side porch with access to the parking area out back.
A hallway leads from the sitting room, past a coat closet to the more private sections of the house.
The first bedroom is on the right and features twin beds atop more hardwood flooring and a closet with double sliding doors. Set in the back right, the second bedroom has a full-size bed.
A shared bathroom at the end of the hall has tile on the floor, halfway up the walls and to the ceiling above the deep Jacuzzi-style tub with a shower.
The primary bedroom is in the rear left and includes a full-size bed, two corner windows and a full bathroom with a tile floor, basin sink atop a wood vanity and tiled corner shower with a swinging glass door.
Out back, there is room for two cars on the concrete parking pad, as well as a storage room for surfboards, beach chairs and umbrellas.
Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring an oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches.
A great location doesn’t only mean beachfront or bayfront on this 8-mile-long island — there are 10 distinct neighborhoods, each with its own characteristics.
The beach and boardwalk — 2.5 miles of oceanfront entertainment, restaurants, thrill rides and souvenir shops — get most of the attention in this seaside resort, but the island has much more to offer.
An award-winning downtown stretches from Sixth to 14th streets along Bay Avenue and has expanded onto other nearby streets, offering more than 100 shops and cafes.
There’s also the popular watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue, where the brave can rent powerboats, go parasailing, join the crew of a pirate ship and take a kayak tour of the back bays. Private and party boat fishing tours are also available.
