Michael J. Hoffman, 75

Michael J. Hoffman, 75, of Ocean City, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Chestnut Hill, PA to the late Robert and Adelaide (nee James) Hoffman, Michael was a graduate of the Ocean City High School class of 1968 and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from LaSalle College in 1973.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years Denise (nee Paarz) Hoffman; sons Timothy (Kate Hayes) Hoffman, Christopher (Krista Bordogna) Hoffman, and Stephen Hoffman; grandchildren Reese, Addie, Jimmy, and Kodi; his sister Nancy McNichol (the late Joseph) ; and many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other dear family and friends. Michael was predeceased by his brother Bobby.

Michael began his real estate career at the Marr Agency in 1969 guided by the values instilled by his mentors David and Jo Marr. He accomplished his dream to purchase the business with Denise in 1997. Across his decades of service, Michael served as a trusted advisor to multiple generations of families to help them create Jersey Shore memories. Michael served the Ocean City Real Estate community in many roles, including as a two-time president and leader of several committees of the Board of Realtors. Michael was honored as Realtor Emeritus by the National Association of Realtors and was two-time Ocean City Realtor of the Year. Michael had many cherished colleagues from the Marr Agency family and across other brokerages, and took great pride in supporting and mentoring other real estate professionals, especially his son Stephen.

Michael’s greatest joy was his family, where he cherished his roles of husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Favorite times were spent traveling (family trips to Florida, milestone trips to Bermuda), bike riding around Ocean City, golfing, tending to flowers and tomato plants in his garden, watching Phillies and Eagles games, listening to music, and playing various games and sports with his children, grandchildren, and granddogs. Michael was an avid bowler, as a member of the legendary Marr Agency team for decades.

Michael served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 6 years, and the Ocean City community on the Planning Board from 1995 to 2004, where he was recognized as the City of Ocean City Volunteer of the Year in 2004.

His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 23rd at 11 o’clock at the Ocean City Tabernacle, 550 Wesley Avenue, Ocean City, NJ with a visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, NJ.
