Mary T. Purcell, 77

Mary Theresa Purcell, 77, passed away peacefully at her home on August 9, 2022.

Born in 1944 in Philadelphia PA, she was raised in Linwood, NJ. She graduated from Mainland High School and earned her degree from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. She later held a long career at Ocean City Intermediate School as an Art Teacher and then several years at Ocean City High School, until her retirement. She loved all things Art and Nature and spent much of her time visiting museums, photography, and gardening. Most of all she enjoyed laughter and spending time with her family, particularly her “girls”.

Survivors include, her daughter Andrea Purcell, EHT, Brother James Callaghan (Margaret) of Zephyr Hills Florida, Sister Catherine Manion, Titusville, Florida Brother Michael Callaghan (Beverly) Tabernacle, NJ, brother in law Robert Conover, Somers Point, NJ, Brother in law, Warren Smith, Daytona Beach, Florida, Brother in law Brian Tomlinson (Lisa) of EHT, her two granddaughters, Rielly Daly and Camryn Daly, EHT and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased in death by her parents, Harry And Lillian (Ansert) Callaghan, her first husband Nicholas Purcell, second husband Craig Tomlinson, sister Patricia Smith, Sister Betty Callaghan Lerner, Sister Margaret Conover and brother in law, Francis Manion.

Her Service of Memory and Love will be offered Monday morning, August 22nd at 11 o’clock from The Godfrey Funeral Home of Egg Harbor Township, 4008 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Townsip, NJ where friends may call from ten o’clock until the time of service.

Special thanks to Mary’s Angelic Hospice Team, for providing Her with comfort at the end of her life and to Touching Hearts for sending an angel named Maima to enable Mary to remain at home as she wished.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Alzheimers Association, NJ Chapter in honor of “Mission for Margie”, or to Angelic Hospice Foundation, in Memory of Mary Purcell.
