MARIE L. McINTYRE, 94

Marie L. McIntyre, 94, of Ocean City, NJ passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024 at her home.

Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Raymond and Marie Louise (nee McBride) McCullen. She was a graduate of Bartram High School class of 1948. 

She started her career working at Atlantic Refinery, where her best friend Marion set her up on a blind date with Bill and 6 months later they were married. Together they moved to Ocean City in 1962 and proceeded to own and operate many businesses including the Surfside Inn, Mallard Hotel, Horn and Hardarts, The Sandbar, Jesse’s Tavern as well as Yesterday’s, Obadiah’s and Captain Obadiah’s Seafood Market in Marmora for many years.

Marie was an active member in the community. You could often find her at the Ocean City Yacht Club, where for many years she hosted the Annual Heart Ball, She was an avid Golfer and member of the Atlantic City and Greate Bay Country Clubs where she was involved in the Ladies Golf League.

Marie was known for her Style, she was always dressed to the nines. She loved traveling the world and spent her winters in Florida. Shopping was another of her Favorite things to do especially on Wednesday nights with her daughter Lynn. Monday nights were dinner with Jeff and Jill, and Friday night dinner dates with Sandy and Joe. Marie had many girlfriends that she spent many a night dining around South Jersey with.

Marie was devoted to her family, they meant everything to her, as she meant everything to us.

Marie was predeceased by her loving husband William H. McIntyre. She is Survived by her children: Sandra M. (Joe) Ummarino, Jeffrey W.(Jill) McIntyre, and Lynn (Steve Flanagan) McIntyre. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Erin (Wes) Yakopcic, Jeffrey (Egle) McIntyre, Michael (Karla) Ummarino, William Ummarino, and seven great-grandchildren: Brendley, Ben, Max, Sage, Blake, Axe, Iyla. Marie was also lucky to have found a good friend in Roy Booth and his family.

The family would like to thank her caregivers who touched our mother’s heart and became part of her family. Thank you Martha, Kay, Mary, Maria, Barbara, Dawn, Merle, Kathy, Debbie and Heather. We could not have done this without you.

Marie lived a wonderful life and we will celebrate her on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 12 o’clock noon at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ where visitation will begin at 10 o’clock.

Burial will follow in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, NJ.
