Lois Fosbenner

Lois Fosbenner went home to be with her Lord and Savior after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Sept. 12, 2024.

She grew up in Beesley’s Point and was a graduate of Ocean City High School and Trenton State Teachers College. She taught many years for the 4th-grade class at The Pilgrim Academy and summers at the Wetland Institute in Stone Harbor. She met her husband Rich on the beach in O.C. She loved the local seashore and loved to teach about it and New Jersey history to her students. She walked daily to the bay where she swam as a child and would often be accompanied by her sister.

She was a proud member of the Mayflower Descendants Society. She loved Lancaster and Maine as well. Lois taught junior church and Sunday school at the Second Cape May Baptist Church where she was a faithful life member. Her life verse was Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not onto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.” She was a great encourager through her card ministry and she always included the verse in the cards and books she gave out. Her love language was giving gifts and she always made sure everyone had warm coats and blankets.

Predeceased by her husband Rich and child Tommy. She is survived by her sons, Jack and Bill, her sister Elizabeth Harris, two daughters-in-law Sue and Karen, 6 grandchildren Jack Jr, Lisbeth, Kyle, Mattie, Rachel and Zachary, and 6 great-grandchildren. Grammy loved her grandchildren very much!
