John M. ‘Jack’ Ennis, 87

John M. “Jack” Ennis, 87, of Pennside, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021, in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Rothenberger) Ennis with whom he celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late J. George and Sara M. (Miller) Ennis. Jack was a graduate of both Mt. Penn High School and PA Military College and was a member of Pennside Presbyterian Church. He was a 1st Lieutenant for the United States Army and then went on to spend many years working in the banking industry. Jack enjoyed spending his weekends and retirement years with his lovely wife in their favorite place – Ocean City, New Jersey. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed riding his bike on the boardwalk while looking at the ocean. 

Jack is survived by two daughters; Karen Oberly wife of Gary, Donna LaScala widow of Michael, four grandchildren; Heather Zabinski wife of Brandon, Michael LaScala husband of Allyssa, Matt Oberly and Mark Oblerly. He is also survived by great grandchildren Sara and Vincent who called him Paw Paw and two brothers Jim husband of Carol and Gene husband of Julia. 

Services and Interment will be Private at Laureldale Cemetery Mausoleaum, Laureldale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.LutzFuneralHome.com
