Janet Ruth Reed, 89

Janet Ruth Reed (nee Peters), age 89, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2020 in Oceanview, NJ.    

Janet was born in Reading, PA.  She graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls in January 1949.  She raised six children in Blackwood, NJ while working as a word processor for Smithkline in Philadelphia.  Janet also resided in Florence, SC and briefly in Hatboro, PA.  She had been a resident of Shore Acres in Seaville, NJ since 1999.  Janet was an active member of Seaville United Methodist Church (SUMC).  She enjoyed visits with family and friends, watching old movies, playing cards and participating in activities at SUMC.  Mom made the BEST fried tomatoes and chicken salad. 

She is survived by four daughters, Janet (Elwood) Dawson of Surfside Beach, SC, Karen (late Mark) Leahey of Pine Hill, NJ, Sandra (Peter) Derieux of Mays Landing, NJ, Alison (Kevin) Wiesner of Palermo, NJ and two sons, Ernest (Mary) Reed of Darlington, SC and Gary (Amy) Reed of Cape May, NJ.  She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  Janet is also survived by her sister, Renee (late Joseph) Davis of Runnemede, NJ. 

Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ernest G. Reed, daughter, Alice Reed, and granddaughter, Meagan Reed. 

Her Memorial service  and interment were held privately.
