HELEN J. CRAWFORD, 87

Helen J. Crawford, 87, of Collingswood, N.J., and Ocean City, N.J., passed away Feb. 19, 2024, surrounded by loving family members.

Helen grew up in Collingswood and Ocean City and was a life-long resident of South Jersey. Helen graduated from Fitzgerald Mercy School of Nursing and received her BSN from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University).

Helen loved spending time in Ocean City and retired there after a long career. She loved spending time on the beach with her family. Dinner was always a grand affair complete with tablecloths and serving platters aplenty.

Helen was an avid reader and completed the crossword puzzle every day of her life. She was also a lector at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Ocean City for many years. Helen loved travel, and visited Scotland, Ireland and South Africa, along with trips to visit family.

Helen is pre-deceased by her parents, Christopher and Emma Crawford, and Aloysius and Mary Doyle; and her brothers, John and Joseph. She is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Jane (Michael) Griess, Ellen (David) Schultheis, Joseph (Linda) Doyle, Elizabeth (Michael) Olson, Christopher (Deneen) Doyle, Mary Kathleen (James) White, great-nieces and -nephews and many beloved cousins. Helen was known as “Aunt Helen” to all of the friends of her nieces and nephews, and will be missed by all.

A viewing was scheduled for Feb. 26 at St. Teresa of Calcutta,  followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed at New St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bellmawr, N.J. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to Covenant House at covenanthouse.org.
