‘Good Trouble’ rally and march Thursday, July 17, in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY – Indivisible OCNJ in cooperation with Indivisible Atlantic County and Fight Against Fascism Org (FAFO) will be participating in the Good Trouble Lives On: A Day of Nonviolent Action from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 17.

The rally will be at Gazebo park at Ninth Street and Bay Avenue from noon to 1:30 p.m. and will feature speeches, music and inspiration from community leaders, elected officials, and special guests.

Following the rally, there will be a peaceful march across the Route 52 causeway along the pedestrian path to the Welcome Center and back again.

“For those who are able to walk the route, we’ll honor the legacy of those who marched before us for freedom and justice,” organizers said.

Indivisible OCNJ drew a large crowd that lined the causeway from the base of the bridge on the Ocean City side to the Welcome Center for a No Kings Protest June 14.

“We’re returning with a renewed call to action … We gather again, this time in honor of the late civil rights icon John Lewis, whose legacy reminds us that now is always the right time to make good trouble. Our movement is rooted in peaceful, nonviolent resistance — and grounded in the belief that democracy is something we build together, in public, in solidarity, and in defiance of tyranny,” organizers said.

The laid out reasons for the rally and march:

“We continue to say no —

• No to unconstitutional power grabs

• No to deportations without due process

• No to inhumane detention centers like “Alligator Alcatraz”

• No to cuts to Medicare and Medicaid

• No to attacks on civil rights, bodily autonomy, and the programs our families rely on

“This isn’t just about politics — it’s about people. Our courts have been defied, our neighbors ave been targeted, and our resources handed off to the wealthy few. We will not stay silent. Enough is enough, it is time to unite in Good Trouble,” organizers said. “Indivisible OCNJ, Indivisible Atlantic County, and FAFO are proud to continue the movement to reclaim our flag and our future. This is about We the People — united, determined, and unafraid to stand up for what’s right.

“As John Lewis taught us: ‘Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. Join us in Ocean City on July 17th. The bridge to justice still needs marching feet.”
