Goldcoast single a perfect vacation headquarters for a large family and friends

OCEAN CITY — The stately three-story beauty at 508 25th St. is the perfect vacation headquarters for a family who loves its time on the beach and doesn’t want to have to travel far to be part of the action.

The finely appointed home features five bedrooms and five bathrooms in an upside-down design that takes advantage of its proximity to the beach by placing the main living area up higher for a better view of the ocean.

The best view in the house, of course, is from its excellent rooftop deck that raises the property above its neighbors in more ways than one.

Out front, the quality of materials and attention to detail in design are immediately evident in the stone foundation skirt, paver brick walkway and handsome columns.

A flowerbed bursting with hostas adds color to the white two-sided staircase with composite treads that ascends to the covered front porch.

Set on the corner of the alley, the home has a two-car garage with vehicle access in the back left. There also are two exteriors doors into the garage — one just off the patio and the other near the front next to the shower room.

A paver brick walkway leads down the right to the main entrance, which opens onto a ground-floor foyer. The tiled room has a built-in storage bench with hooks for clothing and cubbies for shoes. A door opens onto the garage next to the elevator, while handsome wood stairs rise to the left.

At the top, a hallway with medium-plank hardwood flooring leads to four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a laundry facility.

Heading toward the front, the bathroom on the left has a tile floor, granite-topped wood vanity with soft-close, self-close doors and drawers and a porcelain tub with tile walls and a curtain.

The first bedroom, in the front left, has access to the front porch via a sliding glass door as well as a private entrance to a hall bathroom. It has wall-to-wall carpeting, a queen-size bed and plantation shutters on the windows. The second bedroom, in the front right, is smaller and set up as an office but also has front-porch access with a sliding-glass door.

Heading toward the back of the house, the third bedroom is on the ocean side. It has carpet, a full-size bed and private entrance to the second bathroom.

With access from the hall and bedroom, the second bathroom has a granite-topped vanity beneath a large mirror and a shower tiled to the ceiling with sliding glass doors.

Back in the hall, the final bedroom on this floor is a junior master suite in the back. It has carpet, a king-size bed beneath clerestory windows and a full bathroom identical to the second excepting its vanity with dual sinks.

Around the corner is the laundry closet at the foot of the stairs. It has a full-size Frigidaire washer and dryer set and some cabinets.

Atop the next staircase is the great room, a large, open space with a lofty ceiling featuring a lighthouse cupola in the center.

Straight ahead, the kitchen has a granite-topped center island with a sink and dishwasher, as well as room for three or four stools for additional seating.

More white KraftMaid cabinets with a granite countertop run along two walls with a tile backsplash. Stainless-steel Frigidaire appliances include a five-burner gas range/oven with a microwave above and two-door refrigerator with bottom freezer.

To the left, the large living room features a sectional sofa arranged around gas fireplace with a fluted wood surround and mantel with a large-screen television above.

In the corner, the dining area features a long wood table that seats six to eight beneath a chandelier hanging from high above. It’s just inside the covered front porch.

A hallway leads back to the master suite, which has a queen-size bed, large closet with double swinging doors and a bathroom exactly like the suite directly below.

Saving the best for last, around another corner is yet another set of stairs, this one leading to the rooftop deck, with hearty and durable composite furniture looks like it may outlast the sun, at least today.

Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring a 2.5-mile-long oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches. There also is an award-winning downtown business district centered on Asbury Avenue and a watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue.

The Goldcoast, from 18th to 29th streets, is centrally located between the Northend starting at North Street and the Southend ending at 59th Street. Movie star and princess of Monaco Grace Kelly spent summers in the family’s home, just around the corner at the corner of Wesley Avenue and 26th Street.

The home is listed for $2,574,900 with Brian Logue of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors, who made certain to point out the very cool automatic blinds on the double sliding glass door.
