Front-row seat to view of bay, boats, buoys at Sunset Harbour condo

OCEAN CITY — The serene scene and spectacular view are a good fit with the eases of life at the second-floor condominium at 642 Pleasure Ave. because both require little effort to enjoy.

Instead of mowing the lawn or maintaining the house, just walk in, drop your bags and open your eyes to the beautiful seaside setting beneath your windows.

The bayfront neighborhood around Sixth Street is quiet and residential yet close to all of the action nonetheless. It’s just a couple of blocks from the city’s watersports and entertainment district to the north and the award-winning downtown to the east, as well as a short bike ride away from the city’s world-famous boardwalk.

Known as Sunset Harbour, the complex offers both sheltered, dedicated parking and guest parking, so there is no need to worry about finding a spot, and there is a ground-floor storage unit for bicycles and beach gear.

Square brick columns flank the walkway to the metal and brick stairs leading up to the front door, which opens onto a hallway with the greatroom to the left and stairs to the right. 

The fantastic view draws your eye through the greatroom and its two sliding glass doors to the boats, birds and buoys floating atop Great Egg Harbor Bay. The best view, of course, is from the covered back porch where comfortable loungers encourage relaxing.

Wide-plank hardwood flooring is underfoot throughout the dining area to the left, kitchen to the right and living area, which takes up the whole back half of the space. The wide-open great room creates a feeling of spaciousness. 

A long wood table that seats six atop an area rug is to the left beneath a fancy hanging lamp. The rustic look of the table matches the other furnishings and adds to the seaside aesthetic.

Just steps away, the kitchen features a center island with a stone top and two stools. Underneath is a stainless-steel beverage cooler and Sharp microwave drawer, while recessed lighting is overhead. More white 21st Century cabinets line two walls. The backsplash is white subway tiles.

Stainless-steel Frigidaire appliances include a five-burner range/oven with a hood, a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer and a dishwasher to the left of the wide, rectangular stainless-steel sink. Crown molding above the cabinets finishes off the look.

In the living area, a large sectional sofa atop an area rug is on the left side of the room with a large wood coffee table and bureau. On the right, a comfy easy chair with an ottoman sits in front of the gas fireplace flanked by tall windows with seats. You could almost fish from these casement windows, as the water is just below. A flat-screen television hangs above the wood mantel.

Heading toward the stairs, a sliding barn door on the left opens onto the laundry with a stacked washer and dryer. The furnace and water heater are hidden behind a bi-fold door.

A hall bathroom is to the left on the second level. It has a 21st Century vanity with a stone top and shiplap-planked wall where a circular mirror hangs. The porcelain tub/shower has subway tile to the ceiling and a curtain.

Two spacious bedrooms are in the back. The one to the left has a private bathroom, as well as wall-to-wall low-pile carpeting and a queen-size bed. A solid-wood door opens onto a walk-in closet and the bath, which has a decorative tile floor. A wide porcelain-topped vanity and a shower tiled to the ceiling with a swinging glass door.

The bedroom on the right has twin beds atop wall-to-wall carpeting and a closet with double swinging doors.

Another set of wood steps with a carpet inlay ascends to the third-level master suite. The skylight overhead floods the area in light.

A door opens onto a hallway with a view of the bay beyond. His and hers walk-in closets are to the left and the bathroom is on the right. The bath has a tile floor and a one-piece, L-shaped vanity with his and hers sinks beneath a mirror that wraps around the corner. The deep Jacuzzi tub is large enough for a small crowd. Another door opens to reveal the toilet and one-piece fiberglass shower with sliding glass doors.

The bed chamber is in the back to take advantage of the water views. It’s the same size as the living area below. Furnishings include a queen-size bed and antique-looking writing desk next to a second gas fireplace flanked by tall windows. A sliding glass door opens onto an uncovered private back porch, which is a perfect spot for taking in the sunset with a cold beverage in hand.

Outside, a boardwalk runs the length of the complex, with ramps leading down to floating docks and boat slips.
