Frank J. Osborne

Frank J. Osborne passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 20, 2023, joining his Maker and his God. A resident of Maple Glen, PA, Ocean City, NJ, and Venice, FL, Frank was married to his beloved best friend, Peggy Ann (Fischer) Osborne for almost 55 wonderful years. Their partnership laid the foundation for a family legacy enriched by unconditional love, kindness, hard work, and open communication. Together, they raised five children and were blessed with fifteen grandchildren who affectionately called him PopPop.

Frank was the proud dad to Kelley Ann Faust, mother to Kerry, Christie, Annie, and Maggie; Kevin, husband to Leslie (Willhide) Osborne, parents of Colin, Grace, and Cameron; Colleen, wife to Brad Mook, parents to Molly, Gavin, Elizabeth Caroline (Ellie), and Delaney; Frank X., and Megan, married to Brian Romano, parents to James Patrick (JP), Katie, Erin, and Ryan. Frank is also survived by his younger brother, Michael, and his close cousin, Jeanne Cleary. He joins his predeceased parents, Frank and Elizabeth, as well as his brothers John (Jack) and Richard (Dick), in eternal rest.

Frank was known for his steadfast commitment to family and his pride in nurturing lifelong friendships that began in his early school days at St. Athanasius School in West Oak Lane and later at Cardinal Dougherty High School, where he was in the inaugural graduating class of 1959. He was also a proud graduate of St. Joseph’s University and a veteran of the Army Reserve.

Frank found his stride in the world of athletics, becoming an accomplished runner and vital part of the first City Championship Track Team for Cardinal Dougherty. His love of track followed him to St. Joe’s University where he continued running throughout college. Frank passed down his love for athletics by coaching not just his own kids, but also hundreds of other young athletes. He imparted many lessons he learned from track and life such as to never look back, never give up, and always do your best. His passion continued in his later years as a vocal spectator encouraging his grandchildren and their friends, always asking for their race times. His response was, “Good job, now go faster!”

Frank had a successful career in the insurance industry, serving as President of Osborne, Early and Associates before his retirement in 2009. He played an active role in his local communities, whether as the President of Home-School Association of St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Cheltenham, PA, Track Coach, or as a board member for the Cardinal Dougherty Capital Campaign. Frank was always willing to lend a helping hand or contribute to a worthwhile cause that helped others and improved his local community and the world.

In addition to his professional career, Frank and Peggy Ann owned and operated Osborne’s Inn in Ocean City, NJ, now celebrating its 50th summer season. Frank’s welcoming and friendly presence will be missed on the porch as he was always there to greet friends and guests with a smile, a story, and a beer. Many guests became friends in a matter of minutes and he made everyone feel like they belonged. Our porch will never be the same without Big Frank.

Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing in Frank’s honor on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, located at 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.
