Francis X. Caravelli, 80

On September 2, 2022 Francis X. Caravelli passed away. Francis (Fran) was born on December 30, 1941 in Reading, PA to the late Dr. Vincent and Viola (nee Porreca) Caravelli. He was raised in Haddonfield, NJ graduating from Haddonfield High School and Villanova University.

Throughout his 50-year career in the electrical industry, Fran held positions of increasing responsibility culminating in his role as Executive Vice President at Maurice Electrical Supply in Washington, DC. He mentored a number of younger electrical industry professionals, becoming a trusted advocate and friend to many throughout their careers. Fran credited his experience in the U.S. Army National Guard and Reserve with honing his leadership and team building skills.

Fran loved to travel as well as spend time with his family at home in Annapolis, MD and Ocean City, NJ. Fran loved boating. He was never happier than when he was out on the water at the helm of his boat or fishing for striped bass with his friends. He generously gave of himself to others and to his community including serving on the Kingsport of Annapolis Design Review and Covenants Committees. He was also a member of the Ocean City Yacht Club.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Penelope Caravelli; his daughters, Christine Cosby (Clayton) of Heathsville, VA and Margaret Caravelli of Alexandria, VA.

The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to Ayo Conteh, his friend and caregiver over the last few years as well as to all the healthcare professionals who cared for him until the end.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403 or www.cbf.org/memorial.
