OCEAN CITY — In the D4 report filed in October 2023 with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission, the group Families of Ocean City United in Success (FOCUS) estimated it would raise $100,000 in 2023 and $100,000 in 2024 and reported that making contributions would be “a major purpose” of the committee.
In a second-quarter 2024 report filed July 15 with ELEC, FOCUS reported year-to-date contributions of $18,240.42. There is no treasurer or other signatory on the form.
The group donated $5,000 to the four candidates it endorsed — $2,000 to incumbent David Winslow in the Fourth Ward and $1,000 each to Paul Stryker running for the Second Ward seat, Amie Vaules running for the Third Ward seat and Sean Barnes, running to fill the unexpired at-large term.
Including the $5,000 to candidates, the group reported total expenditures of $7,654.85. Among the expenditures was $1,575 with Aristotle International for compliance and legal services.
FOCUS has received a number of large contributions, including from three of the principals in the organization: Brian Broadley, who is vice president of FOCUS; Kim Styer-Gallagher, the treasurer; and Patrick Gill, the secretary.
