Elizabeth A. Slaveski “Betty,” 86, of Ocean City, NJ passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 9, 2024 in Cooper Medical Center in Camden, NJ.
Born on April 7, 1937 in Coatesville, PA, Betty attended Coatesville schools and was a graduate of West Chester University. Throughout her life, she loved spending time with her Valkyrie sisters of WCU. She impacted the lives of countless students as a physical education teacher and coach for many, spending the majority of her career at Northfield Public Schools. Betty was an active member of Greate Bay Country Club and had been a member of the Ocean City Colony Club where she was involved with many of the play productions. A woman of many passions, Betty loved travel, theater, golf, tennis, pickleball, card games, and any other sport she could find to do—but was especially proud of her two hole-in-ones. In addition to being an active athlete, she was a lifelong fan of the Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Betty lived her life with her family as her top priority, and her six precious grandchildren were most important to her just as their “Gram” was most important to them.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Michael W. Slaveski in 1991; her longtime companion, Louis “G.G.” Mazzarella in 2012; and her son-in-law, Dr. Robert F. Kimball, Jr. in 2022.
She is survived by her daughters Robyn S. Kimball and Susan E. (Chuck) Brice. Also surviving are her six grandchildren; Robert (Natalie) Kimball, Mike (Lindsay) Brice, Patrick Kimball (Esther), Caitlyn Brice (Robbie), Andrew Kimball (Bri), and Michael Kimball (Kaitlyn).
A time of sharing memories of Betty will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 1 o’clock at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Road, Palermo, NJ, where the family will begin receiving visitors at 11 o’clock in the morning. Burial will follow the memorial in Seaside Cemetery in Palermo, NJ.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania, or the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in lieu of flowers.
