Denise Joy Fenstermacher Sykes, 72

Denise Joy Fenstermacher Sykes, 72, recently of Merchantville, NJ, died on June 23rd, 2022. Denise, daughter of Clyde and Ruth Fenstermacher of Ocean City, NJ, passed away due to complications of a chronic medical condition. 

Denise is survived by her sister Merryn Buck, her daughter Victoria and her two sons Joseph  (Regina) and Andrew.(Apple). She is also survived by four grandchildren: Ashleigh, Dylan, Anya and A.J. 

Denise grew up and attended school in Ocean City, NJ.  She was a proud member of the OCHS Class of 1967. Upon her high school graduation, Denise worked at Ocean City National Bank. After the births of her three children, Denise started her casino career working for the Golden Nugget Atlantic City Credit Department in 1978. In the early 90’s Denise moved to the Mid South where she continued to work for several casinos as a Credit Executive in Tunica, MS. In her spare time Denise also dabbled in the selling of antiques and collectibles at several cooperative markets which she continued to do after she retired in 2016. At that time she returned to live near her children and grandchildren in South Jersey. Besides hunting for resale bargains, Denise also loved to cook, bake, dine out and travel with her family and good friends.

Denise will be greatly missed by her friends and family which include her nephew Gart and her niece Kerryn, as well as a grandnephew and a grandniece plus several cousins. Per Denise’s wishes, a public graveside ceremony for family and friends was held at Marmora NJ Seaside Cemetery where her parents were laid to rest.  It took place on Sunday, June 26th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has setup a Gofundme site, CLICK HERE, where donations can be made to support the creation of a memorial in honor of Denise Sykes.
