Central neighborhood corner home provides perfect shore getaway

OCEAN CITY — Listing agent Elizabeth Lombard describes the home at 2 Bayonne Place as “luxury living with resort-style amenities.

“Situated on a spacious corner lot in a desirable neighborhood, this property is a rare gem,” she said.

Built in 2019, the 3,000-square-foot home with a black and white color scheme has six bedrooms and four bathrooms.

“This exquisite home combines luxury, comfort and functionality walking distance to the 14th Street playground, Community Center, bay area, fishing pier, Mallon’s sticky buns, Mario’s and so much more,” Lombard said.

Because of its location, composite steps rise to the covered front porch from both Bay Avenue and Bayonne Place. In the corner formed by the stairs is a rock garden with a flagpole and low shrubs, while more landscaping lines the home on both sides.

A two-care garage with separate doors opens off Bayonne Place, where there is room for four more cars off-street.

The ground floor includes a family room with a sectional sofa and sliding glass door that opens onto the rear patio. There also is access from the garage and via a gate on the Bay Avenue side of the property.

A ground-floor foyer includes built-in seating and storage, as well as a staircase leading up to the main living level of the home.

Back out front, a black door off the wrap-around porch opens into a foyer just off the living room.

The open layout and multiple windows on three sides create a bright, open and welcoming space where a sectional leather sofa is arranged around a gas fireplace with a stacked-stone face and wood mantel. A very large flat-screen television hangs above.

A hallway leading to the kitchen passes a full bathroom with a quartz-topped custom vanity, porcelain tub and tiled shower with sliding glass doors.

Next door is the first bedroom with a window overlooking Bayonne Place, while the first of two laundry facilities is across the hall.

At the end, the space opens up into a luxurious kitchen and dining room that juts out toward the front of the house.

“The kitchen is a dream for any cook,” Lombard said.

It includes quartz countertops, custom cabinetry, a subway tile backsplash and an oversized island with seating for six. The Jenn-Air appliance package includes a built-in double-wide refrigerator, a 36-inch range with a hood, double wall ovens, under-counter microwave and a built-in espresso machine. There’s also a stainless steel farmhouse sink.

Just steps away, a glass table that seats six awaits hungry beachgoers just inside four windows.

Back in the living room, stair rise along the wall to the top floor, where there are five bedrooms and three bathrooms, along with a laundry closet.

The primary bedroom is on the Bay Avenue side and includes a king-size bed, dual closets with double swinging doors and multiple windows. There’s also a makeup center in the corner and a door opening onto a private corner porch. The ensuite bathroom has a tile floor, dual-sink vanity and tiled shower.

Back in the hallway, the next bedroom is on the right, next to a full bathroom and across the hall from another bedroom.

The final two bedrooms and final bathroom are at the end of the hall.

Outside, a steppingstone path leads off Bayonne Place to the rear of the property, where there is an extensive patio and pool/hot tub with a full kitchen and bar with stools. Tall evergreens line all three sides, creating a private oasis.

“The swimming pool/spa combo is surrounded by lush landscaping and fully fenced for privacy,” Lombard said.

It includes an enclosed outside shower and is ideal for entertaining or as a private retreat.

Ocean City is one of the most popular shore resorts on the East Coast, featuring an oceanfront boardwalk filled with hundreds of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as miles and miles of pristine beaches.

A great location doesn’t only mean beachfront or bayfront on this 8-mile-long island — there are 10 distinct neighborhoods, each with its own characteristics.

The beach and boardwalk — 2.5 miles of oceanfront entertainment, restaurants, thrill rides and souvenir shops — get most of the attention in this seaside resort, but the island has much more to offer.

An award-winning downtown stretches from Sixth to 14th streets along Asbury Avenue and has expanded onto other nearby streets, offering more than 100 shops and cafes.

There’s also the popular watersports district around Third Street on Bay Avenue, where the brave can rent powerboats, go parasailing, join the crew of a pirate ship and take a kayak tour of the back bays. Private and party boat fishing tours are also available.

The Gardens is popular with many for its slow pace, huge beaches and winding, pedestrian-friendly streets. The Riviera, stretching from 16th to 23rd streets along Great Egg Harbor Bay, is a boater’s paradise with many Mediterranean-style homes set right on inland lagoons. The Central neighborhood is bustling with businesses both downtown and on the boardwalk, while the Northend contains many of the island’s historic homes. The Southend is narrow with fewer homes and room to stretch out, while Merion Park and OC Home feature wetlands and wildlife along with wonderful sunset views. The Goldcoast has some of the best beachfront homes on the island, set behind a mighty system of dunes for protection.

The property is listed for $2.495 million with Elizabeth Lombard of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 675-8085 or email elizabeth.lombard@foxroach.com for more information or to set up an appointment to see this wonderful home.
