Atlantic County surpasses 10,000 cases, 300 deaths

Atlantic County went over the 10,000 mark in COVID-19 cases the past week and recorded 14 more fatalities attributed to the coronavirus, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to more than 300. 

For three days in a row, there were 200 or more daily cases added to the numbers in the county, according to the Atlantic County Division of Public Health.

The county saw as many 219 cases in one day and nearly 1,200 between Dec. 1 and Dec. 7.

The fatalities impacted Egg Harbor Township, Atlantic City, Pleasantville, Galloway, Brigantine, Ventnor, Egg Harbor City, Absecon and Hamilton Township.

Daily cases, fatalities

Monday, Dec. 7: There were 118 new cases of COVID-19 reported and one fatality, a 98-year-old Pleasantville man with pre-existing conditions. There were 60 cases among females from 7 to 90 years old and 58 cases among males from 5 to 81 years old.

There were four cases in Somers Point, three in Northfield and two in Linwood.

Egg Harbor Township had 25 cases, Atlantic City had 19, Hamilton Township had 16, Galloway Township and Pleasantville had 12 each, Margate and Ventnor had five each, Hammonton Had four, Mullica Township had three, and there were two each in Brigantine, Absecon, Egg Harbor City and Buena Vista Township.

Sunday, Dec. 6: There were 200 new cases a the death of an 89-year-old Egg Harbor Township man that accounted for the 300th fatality due to COVID-19 in Atlantic County.

Of the new cases, 110 were among females from 3 to 91 years old and 90 were among males from 1 year old to 85.

Northfield had 12 cases, Somers Point had nine and Linwood had seven.

Egg Harbor Township had 40 new cases followed by Galloway Township with 25, Hamilton township with 21, Pleasantville with 19, Atlantic City with 17, Absecon with 13 and Hammonton with 12. There were five cases each in Ventnor and Egg Harbor City, three in Buena Vista township, two each in Margate, Estell Manor, Folsom, Mullica Township and Weymouth Township and one each in Brigantine and Buena Borough.

Saturday, Dec. 5: With 200 new cases, Atlantic County pushed past 10,000 cases of COVID-19 Saturday.

There were 103 new cases among males from 1 year old to 82 and 97 among females from 10 months old to 96 years old.

Somers Point had 11 cases, Northfield had five and Linwood had two.

Galloway Township led with 29 cases, Pleasantville had 28, Atlantic City had 27, Egg Harbor Township had 25, Hammonton had 17 and Absecon had 14. There were 10 cases in Hamilton Township, six in Egg Harbor City, five each in Buena Borough and Mullica Township, three in Brigantine, two each in Ventnor and Margate, and one each in Longport, Folsom, Estell Manor, Port Republic and Weymouth Township.

Friday, Dec. 4: There were more than 200 new cases of COVID-19 and three fatalities attributed to the coronavirus, a 93-year-old Linwood resident, a a 79-year-old Hamilton Township woman an an 85-year-old Buena Vista Township woman.

Of the 219 new cases, 120 were among females from 7 to 94 years old and 99 were among males from 2 years old to 88.

There were 10 cases in Somers Point, six in Northfield and five in Linwood.

Egg Harbor Township reported 37 cases, Pleasantville had 26, Hamilton Township had 23, Atlantic City had 19, Galloway Township had 18, Ventnor and Hammonton had 12 each, Absecon had nine, Buena Vista Township had eight, Margate and Egg Harbor City had seven each, Brigantine had six, Mullica Township had five, Buena Borough had four, Port Republic had two and Corbin City, Estell Manor, Folsom and Weymouth Township had one each.

Thursday, Dec. 3: A 65-year-old Egg Harbor Township woman with pre-existing conditions died and there were 138 new cases of COVID-19 in the county.

There were 74 cases among 74 females from 1 to 85 years old and among 64 males from 2 to 85 years old.

Northfield reported 11 new cases, Somers Point had eight and Linwood had two.

Egg Harbor Township had 21 cases, Atlantic City had 18, Hamilton Township had 14, Pleasantville had 12, Hammonton had 11, Galloway Township had nine, Ventnor and Buena Vista Township had six each, Absecon, Brigantine and Margate had four each, Buena Borough and Folsom had two each and Mullica Township and Weymouth Township had one each.

Wednesday, Dec. 2: Two more deaths were attributed to the coronavirus and there were 151 new cases ranging from infants to a centenarian.

A 73-year-old Ventnonr man and a 68-year-old Absecon woman, both with pre-existing health conditions, were reported as COVID-19 fatalities.

Of the 151 new cases, 83 were among females from as young as 8 months old to 100 years old, and 68 were among males from 2 years old to 81.

Somers Point had six cases, Northfield had three and Linwood had one.

Egg Harbor Township led with 29 cases, followed by Atlantic City with 26, Hammonton and Galloway Township with 15 each, Pleasantville with 13, Margate with 11, Hamilton Township with seven, Absecon with six, Egg Harbor City with five, Buena Vista Township with four, Ventnor and Buena Borough with three each, Brigantine with two and Estell Manor and Weymouth Township with one each.

Tuesday, Dec. 1: There were 162 new cases of COVID-19 and six fatalities attributed to the coronavirus, an 86-year-old woman from Atlantic City, a 73-year-old woman from Egg Harbor Township and an 82-year-old woman from Egg Harbor City, an 87-year-old man from Galloway, a 68-year-old man from Pleasantville and a 73-year-old man from Brigantine.

The Division of Public Health said five of the six had pre-existing conditions.

Of the new cases, 91 were among females from 12 to 101 years old and 71 among males from 14 to 94 years old.

Northfield had seven new cases, Somers Point had five and Linwood had four.

Egg Harbor Township and Hamilton Township had the most cases with 26 and 23, respectively; Atlantic City had 18, Pleasantville had 17, Ventnor had 11 and Absecon had 10. Brigantine and Galloway Township had nine cases each, Hammonton had seven, Egg Harbor City and five, Buena Vista Township had three and there was one each in Estell Manor, Folsom, Port Republic and Weymouth Township.
