Over the past week, Atlantic County surpassed 4,400 cases of COVID-19 since starting to keep track of statistics when the pandemic began in March.
On Monday, the total cases mounted to 4,441 as 20 new cases were reported by the Atlantic County Division of Public Health. Of those cases, 2,892 have been reported as recovered.
There have been 250 COVID-19-related fatalities.
On a positive note, there has not been been a coronavirus death since Sept. 20 in the county.
On Sept. 28, the Division of Public Health reported 11 cases in men from 16 to 55 years old and nine cases in women from 26 to 89 years old.
The latest cases include four in Galloway Township; three each in Egg Harbor City and Pleasantville; two each in Absecon, Atlantic City, Egg Harbor Township and Hamilton Township; and one each in Margate and Somers Point.
Hammonton still leads the county with 688 cases, followed by Egg Harbor Township with 558, Atlantic City with 549 and Pleasantville with 543. There have been 169 cases in Northfield, 103 in Linwood and 97 in Somers Point.
Hammonton also leads in fatalities with 57, followed by Galloway with 37, Northfield with 31, Absecon with 26 and Atlantic City with 18. There have been 13 deaths related to COVID-19 in Linwood, but none in Somers Point.
Recent cases
– Sunday, Sept. 27: 27 new cases among 13 Atlantic County towns in residents from 17 to 83 years old. Four of the new cases were in Hammonton; three each in Atlantic City, Egg Harbor Township, Hamilton Township and Pleasanville; two each in Galloway Township, Mullica Township and Ventnor; and one each in Absecon, Brigantine, Egg Harbor City, Longport and Margate.
– Saturday, Sept. 26: 40 new cases with the youngest a 6-year-old girl and oldest a 78-year-old man.
– Friday, Sept. 25: 37 new cases spread across a dozen Atlantic County towns with nine of them in Atlantic City. The youngest are a 5-month-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. They range up to age 62. After Atlantic City, there were five cases in Egg Harbor Township, four each in Egg Harbor City and Hamilton Township; three each in Brigantine and Galloway Township; two each in Absecon, Margate, Pleasantville; and one each in Buena Vista Township, Northfield and Ventnor.
– Thursday, Sept. 24: 23 new cases, 10 men 18 to 86 and 13 women ages 16 to 52.
Four new cases in each of Egg Harbor City and Egg Harbor Township; three each in Brigantine, Galloway and Somers Point; two in Hammonton and one each in Absecon, Atlantic City, Buena Vista Township and Hamilton Township.
– Wednesday, Sept. 23: 11 new cases – six men, 18 to 34, five women, 24 to 48.
Three new cases in Atlantic City, two each in Egg Harbor and Galloway townships; and one each in Hamilton Township, Linwood, Port Republic and Ventnor.
Testing continues
Atlantic County residents can get COVID-19 tests 9 to 11:30 a.m. each Tuesday through Oct. 27, by appointment, at 617 Dolphin Ave., Northfield, behind the county’s public works yard. (The week of Oct. 12, testing will be Wednesday, Oct. 14, instead of Tuesday, Oct. 13)
