Atlantic County has given 62,000 COVID vaccines

The number of new cases of COVID-19 and fatalities attributed to the virus continue to drop in Atlantic County from the peaks in January.

Over the past week, from Feb. 23 to March 1, there were 16 deaths and 525 new cases. That represents about half the highest number of deaths reported in a week and less than half the number of new cases.

Across New Jersey, according to the state Department of Health, more than 2 million doses of vaccine have been administered. In Atlantic County as of Monday, 61,977 doses have been administered.

Monday, March 1: There was one death attribute to COVID-19, an 81-year-old Linwood woman with pre-existing conditions, according to the Atlantic County Division of Public Health. There were 61 new cases, including 34 among males from 8 months to 84 years old and among 27 females from 4 to 86 years old.

There was one new case in Linwood and no new cases in Somers Point or Northfield.

Other new cases include Egg Harbor Township (13), Galloway Township (12), Atlantic City (9), Hamilton Township (6), Absecon (4), and one each in Margate, Hammonton, Buena Borough and Buena Vista Township.

Sunday, Feb. 28: There were no deaths but 77 new cases among residents from 2 to 74 years old.

There were two new cases in Northfield and one each in Linwood and Somers Point.

Saturday, Feb. 27: There were two deaths – a 70-year-old Brigantine man and a 67-year-old Hamilton Township woman, each of whom had pre-existing conditions. – and 104 new cases among residents from 1 to 93 years old.

There were six new cases in Somers Point, two in Northfield and one in Linwood.

Friday, Feb. 26: There were two deaths – a 97-year-old Linwood woman and 50-year-old Pleasantville man, both with pre-existing conditions, and 59 cases among residents from 3 to 93 years old.

There were two new cases in each of Linwood and Somers Point.

Thursday, Feb. 25: There was one death in Absecon and 72 new cases among residents from 1 to 93 years old.

There was one new case in Linwood.

Wednesday, Feb. 24: There were three deaths – one each in Northfield, Atlantic City and Galloway Township – and 76 new cases among residents from 5 to 86 years old.

There were three new cases in Somers Point and Northfield.

Tuesday, Feb. 23: There were seven deaths and 76 new cases.

The deaths were a 45-year-old Ventnor woman, an 81-year-old Absecon man, a 77-year-old Atlantic City man, two Egg Harbor Township residents – a 63-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman – a 71-year-old Galloway man and an 84-year-old Hammonton man. All but one had pre-existing conditions.

The new cases were among 46 females from 4 months to 76 years old and 30 males from 1 month to 79 years old.

New cases included six in Northfield, two in Somers Point and one in Linwood.

Other new cases include Egg Harbor Township (21), Galloway Township (11), Hamilton Township (9), Ventnor (7), Atlantic City (6), Hammonton (3), Margate, Absecon and Mullica Township (2 each) and one each in Brigantine, Longport, Buena Borough and Buena Vista Township.
