OCEAN CITY — Not just one, but two fantastic homes are for sale at 2517-19 Wesley Ave. in one of the best beachfront locations on the island — the Goldcoast just south of the end of the boardwalk.
Built by Achristavest — which bills itself as “the premier builder of fine waterfront homes and distinctive waterfront living” — the home features the developer’s distinctive style. That includes over-the-top ceilings; fantastic woodwork, including wainscoting and crown molding; and built-in cabinets in the great room and furniture in the bedrooms.
“Discover the meaning of luxury living and old-world craftsmanship at this beachfront paradise in the heart of Ocean City’s elite Goldcoast. This enchanting residence, located directly on the beach, offers oceanfront views and living reserved for those who will not settle for anything but the best,” real estate agent Mark Grimes stated in his write-up on the property.
A recent remodel, each of the two condominiums was completely overhauled and now offers six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and a great room with a sweeping view of the natural dunes, beach and ocean.
Unlike many bayfront homes, which are rather dull on the street side, these homes have curb-appeal aplenty with their cedar and board-and-batten siding and cedar-shake roof shingles.
Out front, a brick drive leads up to a handsome mahogany door to the one-car garage with a sealed concrete floor. Angled awnings shade the windows in the garage, while a steppingstone path leads around the side to the main entrance.
A tall, dark-wood door with 20 panes and side panels opens off the slate-topped porch into another of the developer’s fine features, the ground-floor foyer offering a private space for each home that includes a cabana room and full bathroom, as well as access to the private elevator. Here the quality craftsmanship and high-end materials are readily apparent in the 48-inch-tall wainscoting, built-in bench and cubbies for storing flip-flops and buckets, and wide-plank hardwood flooring.
Just past a staircase leading up to the main living space is a hallway leading to the cabana room, which has a sliding glass door opening onto the slate back porch and private swimming pool area with an enclosed outside shower.
Outside this room is a full bathroom with a granite-topped vanity, fully tiled shower with a swinging glass door and tile floor.
There is a lot to see just on the ground floor, but atop the steps is the real “Wow!” moment. The great room is a spacious open-plan gathering area featuring a dramatic planked ceiling with exposed beams. Two double sliders with a large window between offer an amazing view, as well as abundant natural light and access to the covered deck. The color scheme and use of light natural wood create a light and airy space.
To the right, the living room area includes a comfy sofa and four armchairs atop an area rug and centered around the gas fireplace with a marble hearth and marble and wood surround. Two tall windows with cushioned seats and storage flank the fireplace.
The dining area is to the left front, putting it just inside one of the two sliders. A long table that seats six rests beneath a hanging lamp just steps from the kitchen, where a quartz-topped center island with three stools provides additional seating.
The island includes white custom cabinets with chrome handles and an Asko dishwasher just right of the Franke farmhouse sink beneath three pendant lights.
More of the quartz counters and cabinets, many with window fronts and all with soft-close, self-close doors and drawers, run along two walls. I have to admit to a bad case of kitchen envy when I visit these high-end homes, and this time was no exception. The blue six-burner Viking Tuscany range with down-draft exhaust, double oven and warming drawer will fill my dreams for weeks to come. There also is a Wolf microwave drawer next to the Sub-Zero refrigerator with cabinet front and subway tile backsplash. Overall a masterpiece.
A hallway leads back and turns right into another hall with an extensive built-in linen closet just outside the powder room with shiplap walls and a stone-top vanity.
The master bedroom is just to the left. It features a king-size bed beneath another fantastic plank ceiling, a walk-in closet with a pocket door and a private deck with an ocean view. The full bathroom has a tile floor, two stone-topped vanities and a fully tiled shower with a glass wall and swinging door.
Across the hall is another Achristavest original — a children’s room with two sets of built-in bunkbeds in a nautical style including shiplap walls and built-in armoires.
Outside in the hall is a full bathroom with a tile floor, stone-topped vanity with his and hers sinks and a porcelain-coated tub and shower with subway tiled walls and ceiling.
Back on the left is the third bedroom, this one with a queen-size bed, wall-to-wall carpeting and a closet with double swinging doors and built-in organizer. It’s full bathroom has a herringbone-patterned tile floor, stone-topped vanity and completely tiled corner shower with a swinging glass door.
Next on the left is a laundry room with full-size GE washer and dryer, counters for folding and cabinets for storage.
Across the hall is the fourth bedroom, featuring a queen-size bed, one shiplap wall, two nightstands and an armoire.
The fifth bedroom is in the back right and offers access to a private deck through a sliding glass door. It has a queen-size bed, one shiplap wall and a built-in dresser and armoire. A pocket door opens onto a private bathroom with a tile floor, stone-topped vanity with his and hers sinks and a large tiled shower with a swinging glass door.
At the end of the hall, just before it turns left toward the sixth bedroom, is a large sliding glass door opening onto another of the three front decks.
Around the corner is the sixth bedroom, this one with a queen-size bed, slider opening onto a private deck and two tall built-in clothing organizers. A pocket door opens onto the full bathroom with a herringbone-patterned tile floor, stone-topped vanity and large tiled shower.
The top-floor unit, 2519 Wesley Ave., is nearly identical except for its lofty 15-foot-high cathedral ceiling and partially covered front deck.
Out back, each home has its own in-ground swimming pool and gate opening onto a private beach path.
