Americo Manuel Inacio

Americo Manuel Inacio, “Mac” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8th, 2025, at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, NJ, surrounded by family.

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Mac immigrated to the United States at the age of 5, growing up in Philadelphia, PA, before eventually settling in Marmora, NJ, where he spent the remainder of his life.

He worked as a senior painter for the City of Ocean City for 28 years and also operated his own full-time painting business, Mac’s Painting, in Ocean City before retiring in 2015. Mac was the embodiment of the American Dream. An immigrant from modest beginnings, he worked hard to build a successful life for himself and his family. He proudly obtained legal U.S. citizenship and often described it as one of his greatest accomplishments. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, most notably of the Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he lovingly embraced as his own during their times of greatest need.

Mac was the beloved spouse of Susan Shiffler-Inacio for 42 years and a loving father to four children: Natalie Inacio, Susan M. Inacio, Nicholas Inacio, and Michael Inacio. He was a brother to Francisco Inacio (Kimberly Inacio), Zulmira Oliveira, and Jose Inacio Jr. and a proud, loving Pop-Pop to Gianna Steigerwalt, Shawn Steigerwalt, Khloe Steigerwalt, Nathan Simpson, Stephen W. Steigerwalt Jr., and Hailey Grace Creamer. Mac was also an adored uncle to many nieces and nephews and an admired brother-in-law to Edward Shiffler Jr. (Margaret Shiffler), Colleen Toolen (Joseph Toolen Jr.), John Shiffler, and Dennis Shiffler Sr. (Jennifer Shiffler).

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Inacio Sr.; his mother, Maria Inacio; his brother-in-law, Thomas Shiffler Sr. (Susan Shiffler); his sister-in-law, Patricia Shiffler; and his nephew, John Shiffler.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, January 16th at 11 o’clock from The Church of the Resurrection of St. Maximillian Kolbe Parish, 200 West Tuckahoe Road, Marmora, NJ where friends may call from 9:00 am to 10:45 am. Burial is private.
