MAYS LANDING – Anthony M. Spina, 31, of Atlantic City was indicted by an Atlantic County grand jury charging him with conspiracy to commit criminal mischief and criminal mischief, both crimes of the third-degree, on Dec. 12.
It is alleged that on multiple occasions between June 1 and Sept. 1, 2023, that Spina agreed with another known individual to fly drones, otherwise known as unmanned aerial vehicles or UAVs, and drop dye packs into commercial and residential swimming pools, causing the water to turn a greenish/yellow color, alarming property owners and causing damage in an amount of $2,000 or more to remediate.
Between Aug. 2 and Aug. 15, it is alleged that Spina flew a drone and dropped dye packs in a pool on multiple occasions at a local condominium complex in Atlantic City, causing over $2,000 or more to remediate.
Using tracking software, the drone flights were allegedly attributed to Spina and his co-conspirator, resulting in at least one drone and multiple digital devices being seized, implicating Spina in the scheme; and resulting in his arrest.
These charges are merely an accusation and not proof of guilt. In all criminal cases, a charged defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
