OCHS grad Summer Reimet has excellent season playing soccer for Monmouth University

OCEAN CITY — Summer Reimet, a 2022 Ocean City High School graduate, just completed an excellent season with the Monmouth University Hawks. The junior women’s soccer player was named Colonial Athletic Association Attacking Player of the Year and First Team All CAA.

The daughter of Mark and Kathy Reimet of Ocean City, she led the CAA in goals (14), points (33) and game-winning goals (5). Reimet was ranked in the top 15 in scoring nationally in Division I women’s soccer. 

Despite the accolades, her season came to an end Nov. 9 with a 2-1 loss to Stony Brook University in the CAA championship game.

The CAA consists of 13 colleges from Northeastern in Boston down to Elon and Charleston in the Carolinas. Local CAA teams include Drexel and Delaware.

The women’s soccer team won the CAA regular season and was the top seed entering the playoffs. 

They defeated Hofstra 4-2 on Nov. 3 in the semifinal round, with Reimet scoring a brace to set up the match with Stony Brook. 

Reimet scored the Hawks’ lone goal in the loss in the 78th minute.

While in high school, Reimet was part of a lethal scoring duo and won a state championship.

In 2018 as a freshman, she scored 11 goals and had 4 assists, while sophomore teammate Faith Slimmer had 14, 12. The team was 15-7-1, losing to Moorestown 5-0 in the South Jersey Group III semifinal.

The next year, the Red Raiders were 24-2, beating Ramapo 3-0 for the state championship. Reimet had 35 goals and 6 assists, while Slimmer had 35 goals and 28 assists.

In 2020, the team was 11-0-1 in a pandemic-shortened season, with Reimet scoring 23 goals and 3 assists to Slimmer’s 30 goals and 17 assists.

Reimet was most prolific in her senior year, when current top-scorer Naomi Nnewihe was a freshman. She netted 62 goals and had 9 assists when the team was 21-1-1, falling to Mainland Regional in a shootout at the sectional final.
