Local couple opens Sweat.oc strength, endurance training center

OCEAN CITY — Nico and Susie Tramontana have scheduled a grand opening celebration this weekend at Sweat.oc, a strength and endurance training studio at 225 West Ave.

The couple, who took over the fitness center Sept. 9 and rebranded it, has scheduled the event for 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, including a promotion that allows participants to bring a friend for free to its power circuit class.

“We believe in the power of community and the strength within each individual. We focus on offering a wide variety of training sessions that are designed not just to build strength and endurance but to foster a supportive environment where everyone can thrive, and build a place where everyone can feel comfortable and have fun while sweating together,” Susia Tramontana said.

She was an instructor for three years at the previous business,  Driven Studio.

“When the opportunity for reopening the studio was presented, we talked with a lot of the members, friends and community about taking it over. They urged us to try and keep it open as there is not much else on the island like it and so we ran with it,” Tramontana said.

She is a middle school technology teacher in Absecon who has a master’s degree in education and has been a fitness instructor for the past 10 years.

Nico Tramontana has owned an apparel production and logistics management company, along with a consulting division for apparel brands and athletes, for the past 12 years. The former professional soccer player has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and has trained at very high levels throughout his career.

The couple, who met during high school at Sacred Heart in Vineland, grew up and live in Ocean City with their 6-year-old daughter, an Ocean City Primary School student, and 14-month-old son.

“It’s really unique to have a business and be able to contribute positively to our community,” Susie Tramontana said, noting it is their first business together.

“We’re so tied into the community, we know so many people who love the studio, and the support we’ve received has been amazing,” she said. “We cannot wait to see what this studio becomes and continues to grow into.”

She said they strive to be inclusive.

“Our hope is that everyone comes and gives it a try, we want everyone to just try us out,” Susie Tramontana said. “Come take a class, test the limits of what their bodies and minds can accomplish in just one hour of fun, intense work. Good things come to those who sweat.”
