Panelists are Liberty Kocis, Cape May County health educator, risk communicator, medical reserve communicator; Frank Donato, Office of Emergency Management for Ocean City/Upper Township; Ronnie Town, ACEL Storm Management; and Chris Leusner, director CMC Emergency Management.
All are invited to attend this meeting that is important for area residents, not just AARP members.

Playmates in concert

SOMERS POINT – The Playmates featuring Scott Breiner and Pamela Whitman will be performing at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, Grace Lutheran Church, Shore Road, Somers Point.
The concert is part of the church’s 100th anniversary year celebration and is open free to the public. A free will offering will be taken to benefit local humane societies. A reception will follow the concert.

Craft Show
and Bake Sale
OCEAN CITY – St. John Lutheran Church will hold its third annual Craft Show & Bake Sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.
The inside show, featuring 25 vendors, will take place in Fellowship Hall and Lounge of the church at 1001 Central Ave., Ocean City.
The sale will feature crafts made by local artisans and will include a bake sale with homemade baked goods made by church members. A book sale table will also be provided by the church with popular titles sold for reasonable prices.
No fee will be charged for entry. The church requests (but does not require) a donation from attendees of a non-perishable item for the community food bank.

OCEAN CITY – Ocean City Masonic Lodge No. 171 F.&.A.M. is having a pancake breakfast starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the lodge, 940 Wesley Ave., where vintage Flanders Hotel dinnerware will be for sale.
Breakfast includes specialty pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee and juice. $12 for adults, $8 children, $10 veterans. Walk-ins welcome. Proceeds benefit the lodge restoration fund.
Between 8 and 11 a.m at the pancake breakfast, vintage dinnerware from The Flanders Hotel will be for sale. SOMERS POINT — Grace Lutheran Church is hosting Oktoberfest from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 27 at 11 E. Dawes Ave.
The event will include German food, live music, dancing and a 50-50 drawing.

ATLANTIC CITY — A new fundraiser featuring a drag show and gourmet buffet will benefit Cancer Support Community New Jersey (CSCNJ).
Queen Cabaret is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19 at Nola’s inside Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City. The cost is $75 for general admission and $100 for VIP seating. The cost includes a gourmet buffet and open bar. There also will be a raffle and 50/50 drawing.
The drag show will be performed by Brittany Lynn and the Philly Drag Mafia.

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) Program will hold the virtual Lunch & Learn Program: The 8 Dimensions of Wellness-Social Wellness from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.
“There are 8 Dimensions of Wellness defined by SAMSHA and this program will focus on the importance of social wellness for better life-balance and stress reduction,” said Chris Zellers, CHS educator/assistant professor. This webinar is part of the Lunch & Learn 10-part series on the 8 Dimensions of Wellness that runs through October. It includes one-hour lessons on physical, environmental, financial, occupational, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social wellness.
Participants who view an entire webinar and complete the five-minute questionnaire will be entered to win one of 15 fit bits.

Walking Club
OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Walking Club, formed last summer, invites everybody to join weekly walks on the Ocean City Boardwalk on Friday mornings.
People of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to meet outside the Ocean City Music Pier at 8 a.m. each Friday to walk the length of the Boardwalk. The Ocean City Healthy Living Advisory Council created the group as a way for people to get healthy and meet new friends.
The Boardwalk is 2.45 miles long, and round trip is (4.9 miles). Walks may take about 90 minutes, but participants are welcome to stop at any point along the route. The HLAC asks everybody to grab a coffee or water and “don’t forget to bring your smile.”

Crisis Intervention
Families who are experiencing serious difficulties in managing the behavior of children 10 to 17 years old for whom they are responsible can seek assistance through the Atlantic County Juvenile/Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU).
FCIU is a legally mandated program that is available 24 hours a day to intercede in family conflicts and help strengthen the family unit. Its services include short-term crisis stabilization, family assessment, case management, treatment planning and referrals to appropriate community-based services.
FCIU is available to meet in-person by appointment with youth and their families from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 101 Shore Road in Northfield. Appointments can also be conducted by phone or as a virtual meeting to help de-escalate and resolve family conflicts.

for depression
Online screening for depression and postpartum depression is available at mhaac.info/screening.
The confidential screening involves 10 questions related to topics such as sleep habits, appetite, concentration and level of energy. Resources and recommendations are offered at the end of the survey.
Anyone who wants to take the screening but needs assistance can call The Mental Health Association in Atlantic County at (609) 652-3800. Staff are available throughout the year by phone or by appointment. No cost, no insurance needed.
