Coastal Chateau a bite-sized boutique hotel in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY — Luxury, elegance and warmth define the welcoming atmosphere of Coastal Chateau, an exciting new boutique hotel in Ocean City.

Situated on the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Sixth Street, Coastal Chateau occupies the historic site of the former Atlantis Inn. This prime location offers a short walk to the beach and proximity to Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and other boardwalk attractions.

Designed to provide an unforgettable getaway experience, Coastal Chateau blends modern amenities with the serene beauty of the ocean and the historic charm of the building, making it an ideal retreat for families, couples and groups of friends.

Coastal Chateau is family-owned and -operated by the Scaffidi family — featuring the dynamic duo of sisters Alyse and Alexis Scaffidi; mother Cynthia Scaffidi and the sisters’ partners, Kyle Carberry and Anthony Dominick, respectively.

Born and raised in Glassboro, the Scaffidi sisters have deep ties to the shore.

“We grew up coming to Ocean City,” Alyse Scaffidi said. “Whenever our parents took a day off, we’d all hop in the van and come down to Ocean City. We loved being here; it was like a second home.”

It was that love of Ocean City that years later would lead them to return, but this time with ambitious dreams and determination instead of beach towels and sunscreen.

The sisters had a plan to create a unique lodging experience at the shore, something that couldn’t be replicated at other condos or hotels on the island. They began the journey with the purchase of the former Atlantic Inn in early February 2024.

Over the ensuing months, the family dedicated long hours to renovating the property, balancing the historic allure with modern upgrades and creating their vision.

“We wanted to keep the old historic allure while upgrading it with some modern amenities,” Alyse Scaffidi said. “This place has so much charm, we just really wanted to emphasize that.”

Through their determination, the renovations were completed in just more than three months and Coastal Chateau is now open and operating. The sisters emphasized the abilities of one another and their family as the reasons for Coastal Chateau being a possibility at all.

“We fully funded this and carried it out as a family. I mean, we put our life savings into this. We love doing stuff as a family, and we were looking for a way to show off our skills. A hotel was a nice way to marry all of our strengths together and come together to create something special,” Alexis Scaffidi said.

When asked where the inspiration for such a unique lodging experience came from, the sisters remarked on their own travels.

“Our vision for the Chateau really comes from our own travels as a family. We’ve been to Amsterdam, Paris and Florence, and it’s just that boutique experience we’re really trying to capture here,” Alexis Scaffidi said.

Coastal Chateau offers a variety of accommodations, including 12 beautifully appointed guest rooms, three pet-friendly ground-floor villas and a spacious rooftop deck providing panoramic views. The hotel’s elegant decor creates a luxurious yet inviting atmosphere that makes guests feel right at home.

“Part of the draw to stay here, I think, is the diversity in what we can do. We can offer a king-size bed for a romantic getaway or we have villas that can hold as many as eight people. Whatever you’re looking for, we have it here,” Alyse Scaffidi said. “We’re trying to make this a place that you’ll want to come back and stay at. We want you to make memories here.”

The sisters have created a unique boutique experience of staying, blending grandeur with a friendly coastal ambience. Coastal Chateau is available for booking at coastalchateauocnj.com.
