Brambley Golf League: Karwowski shoots season-best round of 38

OCEAN CITY – For the second time this year, Joe Karwowski captured the Low Gross winner title at the Brambley Golf League. 

After a slow start on the front six holes, Karwowski shot two under par on the back six holes to finish with a season-best round of 38. His impressive performance included two birdies and nine pars. 

Chet Czerpak also had his best round of the season, shooting a 43, including two birdies, to secure the Flight B Low Gross title. Jo Ann Bonanni continued her winning streak, shooting a 48 to win the Ladies Low Gross title for the third week in a row. Jean Bush won the Senior Division Low Gross title for the second time this year with a round of 47, outpacing the competition in her flight by three strokes.

Tom Bowman and Ron Hermann had exceptional rounds of 43 and 45, respectively, tying for the Low Net Flight A title with a net score of 34. Mark Hemmert shot a net score of 35, taking second place in Low Net Flight A. First-year player Robert Praetorius shot six under his handicap to win the Flight B Low Net award with a net score of 31. Jim Downan took second place with a net score of 34, edging out Bill Gardner by one stroke, who took third place honors.

In the Ladies Division, Nancy Ryan had her best round of the season, shooting five strokes under her handicap to secure the Ladies Low Net title. Playing partners Beth Markoe and Mary Beth Quinlan tied for second place in the Ladies Low Net, with a score of 34. Walt Thompson won the Senior Low Net Title with a net score of 35, while Jim McElderry and Ron Bush tied for second place with a net score of 36. Walt Thompson also secured the Closest to the Pin Title with his tee shot landing 6’7” from the pin on hole 12.

Golfers with two birdies this week included Joe Karwowski and Chet Czerpak. Single birdies were made by JoAnn Bonanni, Tom Bowman, and John McVerry. Golfers shooting in the forties this week included Chet Czerpak, Tom Bowman, Mark Hemmert, Rich Hawthorne, Ron Herman, John McVerry, Dave Carter, John Master, Bill Gardner, JoAnn Bonanni and Jean Bush.

Next week will be Red, White and Blue Day at Brambley Golf.  This League tradition  was initiated by Social Director Jean Robinson several years ago and rest assured Jeanne will be wearing her most patriotic ensemble. Members are also requested to wear their most patriotic colors to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday.  The best dressed outfits will have their picture taken and maybe even get a prize.
