John Joseph Givens, Jr., 92

John Joseph Givens Jr. passed away on Monday June 3rd, 2024, at the age of 92 surrounded by his loving wife of 70 years, Jane, and his family.

Born in Newark, New Jersey on March 3rd, 1932, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. William T. Powell from 1950 to 1954. Shortly before being honorably discharged, he met the love of his life Jane Deery. Together they raised 8 children and were blessed with 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. 

Jack was a master bricklayer until 1979 when he, Jane and family moved from Havertown, PA to Ocean City, NJ, for a career change as a blackjack dealer in Atlantic City. In retirement, he could be found on the porch of his house on Central Ave. spending time with his beloved family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. 

The service will take place on June 27th, 2024 at The Godfrey Funeral Home of Palermo, 644 South Shore Rd. Palermo, NJ 08223 where friends may call from10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 11:00AM
