Enjoy beautiful view from bayfront condo in island’s Southend

OCEAN CITY — The second-floor condominium at 3902 West Ave. offers unobstructed panoramic views of the wetlands teeming with life just outside the door.

After spending the day relaxing at the beach, playing on the bay, strolling the boardwalk or shopping downtown, take a cold drink outside to watch the sun set on another fantastic day at the shore or mount the spiral stairs to the rooftop deck to enjoy views of Great Egg Harbor Bay, grassland meadows and, to the east, the open Atlantic Ocean.

The duplex is located on the bay side of West Avenue at the corner of 39th Street and was designed for maximizing those views with multiple decks and north- and west-facing banks of windows in the great room.

On the street side, a one-car attached garage and storage room are beneath the duplex. A concrete walkway leads back to the sheltered staircase and continues on to the outside shower — a must for any beach house.

Atop the stairs, the front door opens onto a hallway with the great room to the right and the four bedrooms, two bathrooms and laundry to the left.

Narrow-plank hardwood floors stretch down the hall and into the kitchen, while the living room and dining room have wall-to-wall carpeting.

A two-sided fireplace with a wrap-around wood mantel immediately catches the eye. It provides warmth and ambiance for the entire space.

Two steps farther and the fireplace is an afterthought as the view of the wetlands opens up before the eyes. Get up close and personal with the multiple species of birds using a pair of binoculars or a telescope from the covered rear deck, which can be accessed via a sliding glass door off the living room. Three windows with a half-circle one above face north, offering views from the sectional sofa. The 9-foot ceiling makes the space feel even larger.

The kitchen has abundant white cabinets and sea-green granite countertops, including a peninsula with seating that partially separates it from the dining room. Appliances include a Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, a five-burner electric Kenmore range/oven with a microwave above and a dishwasher to the right of the stainless-steel sink.

Just steps away, the dining room has another set of three windows with a half-circle above facing west. A wood oval table with seating for six rests beneath a hanging lamp and the fireplace is just to the right.

Down the hall, a coat closet with a six-panel hollow-core door is to the left, while the first bedroom is on the right. It has wide-plank engineered hardwood flooring, a full-size bed and a closet with double bi-fold doors.

Back on the left, the second bedroom has wall-to-wall carpeting, a full-size bed, closet with a bi-fold door and a sliding glass door opening onto a private deck.

The laundry closet, featuring a stacked Frigidaire washer and dryer, is to the right.

Two more bedrooms are in the rear, facing the street, as is a hall bathroom with rough-tile flooring, a porcelain pedestal sink and a one-piece fiberglass tub/shower with a curtain.

The bathroom is just outside the door to the third bedroom, which is in the back right. Set up as a denn, with a daybed and television, it has wide-plank engineered hardwood flooring and a closet with double bi-fold doors.

In the back left, the master bedroom has yet another set of three windows with a half-circle above facing north. A glass door opens onto a private corner deck. The master bath has a tile floor, Corian-topped vanity and a one-piece tub/shower with a curtain.

Life in the Southend neighborhood of Ocean City moves at a slower pace but has everything needed for a fun and relaxing vacation — small mom-and-pop shops, multiple restaurants and convenience stores, ice cream parlors — and is close to the 34th Street Bridge with access to the Garden State Parkway.

The island is at its narrowest in the area as well, meaning the beach is just three blocks away — an easy walk or bike ride away.

Looking for excitement? The city’s world-famous boardwalk — filled with shopping, dining and entertainment destinations — is just a couple of miles away, as is the city’s award-winning downtown and its watersports district, which offers boating, fishing, parasailing, watercraft rentals and pirate-themed cruises.

The home is listed for $649,000 with Kevin Decosta of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Fox & Roach Realtors. Call (609) 545-5053 or (609) 399-8200, or email kevin.decosta@foxroach.com, for more information or to set up an appointment to tour this wonderful home.
