Ocean City fire Monday displaces three occupants, slightly injures firefighter

OCEAN CITY – Three occupants were displaced because of a fire Monday afternoon on the second floor of a home at 1414 Simpson Ave.

Ocean City 911 center started to receive calls at 4:46 p.m. reporting the fire and the Ocean City Fire Department responded within three minutes from being dispatched, according to public information officer Doug Bergen.

Firefighters were met with a large fire on the second floor and worked with mutual aid partners Marmora Volunteer Fire Department and the Margate Fire Department to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings.

The fire was under control at 5:26 p.m., Bergen said. There were no injuries to civilians and one minor injury to a firefighter.

The fire is under investigation by the OCFD Investigation Unit, Ocean City Police Department and the New Jersey State Fire Marshal’s office.
