HELEN WILDA HAMILTON, 99

Helen Wilda Hamilton, 99, passed away December 1, 2023. She had been a resident of The Shores in Ocean City since 2006, the year she and her husband, Charles Keith Law, moved there from their home in the Gardens Area, and where he passed away that same year.

She is survived by two of her three sons and their families, the youngest a great-great-granddaughter, all living in California.

Helen was a native of Canada and reared from a young age in the Detroit area of Michigan. She earned a graduate degree in Experimental Research Design and Analysis in Psychology at Wayne University, did graduate research at Johns Hopkins University, and held Associate Professor teaching positions at Towson University and the University of Maryland before taking a position in the early 1970s at the Federal Aviation Research Center in Pomona, NJ where she worked as an Engineering Research Psychologist.

One of her first and most interesting responsibilities was to program a color air traffic radar display, then an emerging new technology, for an experimental study of the potential benefits to air traffic controllers of having the various data they use presented on their radar screens in various colors, something that has been in common use now for a number of years.

At The Shores, Helen had been active in various activities. A few years back she was editor of The Chat, the residential news publication, and treasurer of the Resident Council. She had enjoyed making jewelry for sale at their annual bazaars.

Burial will be private in Alexandria National Cemetery in the grave of her husband.

A memorial service will be held January 17 (today) at 2:00PM from The Shores at Wesley Manor. 2201 Bay Ave Ocean City NJ.

Condolences may be made at godfreyfuneralhome.com.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Communities Foundation. umcommunties.org.
