Marmora man dies after Atlantic City shooting

ATLANTIC CITY — Marmora resident Kevin Gayle Jr., 37, was shot to death Sunday night in Atlantic City.

According to authorities, the Atlantic City Police Department received a ShotSpotter alert for multiple gunshots in the area of the 1100 block of Monroe Avenue at about 10:06 p.m. Jan. 7.

Officers arrived at the scene and located two victims with gunshot wounds. Gayle was unresponsive and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, where he was pronounced deceased. Lyndon Russell Jr., 24, of Atlantic City, was transported to AtlantiCare, where he was treated and admitted. 

The cause and manner of death for Gayle is pending an autopsy by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The incident is being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit.
