BETTY JANE STIVALE

Betty Jane Stivale of Ocean City (formerly of Blue Bell, Pa.) died peacefully at home with her sister by her side on Oct. 28, 2023.

Betty was a remarkable and intelligent woman who had a life full of travel adventures and precious family memories. After dedicating many years to the medical nursing profession, Betty retired to live at the Jersey shore and shared her joy of the beach with her family.

Betty was a strong friend, staying in touch with many of her nursing colleagues. In Ocean City, she was active with the American Legion and was the driving force behind its program to place American flags in cemeteries for veterans.

Her passion for travel took her to all corners of the world, and even in recent years when it became harder to travel abroad, her wise advice became “take more road trips.”

Betty was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, cheering them on through many seasons and a recent Super Bowl. She adored her two sons and her three grandchildren, bestowing them with her wisdom, love and life lessons.

Betty was an exceptional cook and loved to entertain; she was a true “foodie.” She had the unique talent for making every birthday and holiday special — an occasion to remember.

Betty is survived by her sister Carol Markov (Marko) of Phoenix, Ariz., and San Diego Calif., her sons Lee A. Stivale (Cheryl) of West Chester, Pa., and David Stivale (Kim) of San Diego, Calif., and her three grandchildren Brittany, Avery and Brayden — they were all Nana’s pride and joy.

Betty was predeceased by her daughter Susanne Stivale.

Burial will be private, and celebration of life will be held in the future months.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Betty’s memory to the Ocean City American Legion Post 524, PO Box 363, Ocean City, NJ 08226 or to the Police Benevolent Association at Ocean City PDA Local 61, PO Box 293, Ocean City NJ 08226.
