Three cars stolen in one night; two suspects arrested

OCEAN CITY – The Ocean City Police Department is investigating the theft of three motor vehicles early on Thursday morning.

A BMW, a Kia and a GMC Jeep were stolen from outside homes in the Merion Park and Waterway Road neighborhoods between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Aug. 3. A fourth vehicle, which had been stolen in Hammonton, was recovered in Ocean City, according to the OCPD.

Two juveniles were arrested in Egg Harbor Township, and one of the vehicles stolen from Ocean City was recovered in Egg Harbor City later on Thursday. The other two have not yet been recovered.

The crimes represent the continuation of a statewide trend of increased auto thefts. Police advise all owners to lock their cars and never leave fobs or keys inside.
